We are heading to Disney World from Maine and on our way home, we're planning our last night to be in Pennsylvania. We are having a tough time finding a decent family campground somewhere along I-81/I-84 that will take a 1 night reservation for a Friday night.

If anyone has any firsthand experience at a campground along this route that they could recommend, we'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance for any replies.

The Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association has a website representing all of their members. Their site is www.pacamping.com. The site is broken down by regions and areas so that you can pinpoint areas along your travel routes.
Good luck finding a place that will give you a single weekend night's stay. That's pretty rare.
We go to a place called KNOEBLES Campgound and amusement park located in ELYSBURG,PA. It's probably about a 45 minute drive from rt.81 at rt.80(west near the town of Bloomsburg,PA)
They have a campground at the amusement park. It is not quiet, but i guarantee you that it is an experience you won't regret. They also own and operate another campground located 2 miles down the road. It's called LAKE GLORY. It's private, quiet, and secluded. If you have an extra day to spend, you'll love the amusment park. Search for their website and check it out.(it might be www.knoebels.com)
Good luck

There are several campgrounds off of Exit 20 (Greentown/Lake Wallenpaupack) on I-84. They are PPL campgrounds. The two closest to the exit would be Ledgedale (about 1 mile)and Ironwood Point (3 miles). If you seach for PPL/Lake Wallenpaupack campgrounds you should be able to find their websites. Promised Land State Park also has camping and is off the next exit. You could also try visitPA.com. There is a list of places to stay and includes alot of campgrounds. I live off of Exit 20, so PM me if you would like any info on anything near me. At one time I had a map of campgrounds located along I-81, but I can't find it. We did stay at a KOA near Harrisburg (Jonestown) and it was small, but nice for a short stay.

another campground in that area (near KNOBELS) that we have stayed at and liked was Splash Magic. http://www.riverandfun.com/ we stayed there a few years back when it was a Jellystone(Yogi Bear) campground. it has dropped it's affiliation with the Jellystone name since then, but we still like it very much.
