I know that someone from PSU has had to have done the college program. Can anyone tell me if they were able to get credits from PSU for any of the classes Disney offers or an intership credit from PSU? :confused3My daughter is a communications/marketing major and is currently at a satellite campus which makes getting a straight answer difficult. Any tips that can help her? She just did her interview today but would like to get all her ducks in a row for when that acceptance letter comes (thinking positive). :wizard:Thanks!

Hi! I'm actually the campus rep for the Abington campus of Penn State! I go to the Abington campus of PSU and I was able to get 12 credits for my major (Integrative Arts), all other majors receive 3 credits for participating (at least that's how it works at my campus). It may vary by campus but I'm not sure, I would email University Park and double check with them, have you tried that?

Thanks Sorahana, she goes to Hazleton campus. She was told she could get 3 credits through hospitality/tourisim but only for certain roles. That is awesome that you got 12 credits! She is thinking about taking a couple of online courses while she is there but I think the work schedule may be too demanding for her to focus on her studies.

Hi......actually my son isn't planning to apply for the CP until next Fall for Spring 2011, but, he is planning to attend the Presentation at U Park in a few weeks to ask some questions so he will be prepared for next year. That's one of the questions he has.....he's a Communications/Advertising major and is wondering how many credits......if any.....PSU will accept from Disney or if he can get any internship credits from PSU and will need to fill in with online classes. From what little we've been able to find out so far it seems like it varies widely among different majors. Hopefully, he will get some better answers in a few weeks and then be able to talk to his advisor so he'll have everything in order to apply next Fall. I'll post when or if I have any more info.

That's so funny...I know someone who goes to Penn State Abington!

When my boyfriend went to talk to his counselor at U Park about doing the CP, they said they don't recommend it, but glad to see other opinions! (He's applying anyway!)

I know my sister participated while at Main Campus ...she was a Broadcast major ... she only received 3 credits, thus extending her graduation by one semester. She would do it again if she had to, as it certainly has helped her career path and looks wonderful on your resume.

Thanks, DisneyPoly, we've already taken into consideration that it will probably extend graduation one semester. However, what we're more concerned with is the fact that if he doesn't have at least 12 credits for the semester he's at WDW he won't be considered a full time student and lose his health insurance under our policy.........that's why we're trying to find out if Penn State will either accept any ACE credits from classes offered by Disney or if he will need to take three online classes from PSU........which wouldn't be the best scenario. From everything we've been able to determine so far, it appears he could get 3 credits for working, but, will still need 9 more credits from somewhere to maintain that full time status.

Penn State does not give credit for the ACE classes offered by Disney, I asked them when I did the program =/.
He'll probably need to take the three online classes via World Campus to stay full time if he's only receiving 3 credits for the program.

Hello, My mom made this post. I go to Penn State Hazleton. I am taking a leave of absence next semester. I'm taking advantage of university of central michigan in order to get 12 credits. the credits will transfer back to PSU as general elective credits. There is information about this on the college program website under FAQs dealing with education. I'll be paying like $2600. for the 12 credits.
