Penalty for Using Only Part of Expedia Package?

I am planning a trip and have found a great hotel + car rental package on Expedia. The problem is that I need the car for 6 nights and the hotel for only 4 nights. Their website isn't set up for that, so I priced it for the 4 nights.

If I price just the hotel, the nightly rate skyrockets. And I found a great deal on a rental car for the whole time I'd need it from another place.

My question is what would happen, if anything, if I just don't pick up the rental car that's part of the package? There is nothing on their website (that I can find anyway) that addresses this, and I don't want to take the verbal assurance of some flunky over the phone that wouldn't be enforceable if they charged me some kind of fee for this.

Anyone out there who has done this or knows what their policy really is in a situation like this?

I have done this before with a package that included airfare and a rental car from AAVacations. We used the airfare but never picked up the rental car. We had no problems. We used a different rental car company for the rental we needed. Best of luck --Suzanne
