I remember reading in a magazine before, maybe Family Fun, about getting pen pals from other countries. My 10 year old daughter wants to do this with someone her age, does anyone know where I can find information on that?

Also, she really wants to help a soldier as well. Any ideas on how we can be matched with a soldier and send letters/get letters in return? She wants to send care packages but I think it would be more meaningful to her if she actually connected with one instead of just sending them out to random soldiers.

Thanks for any leads.

It is a bigger commitment- in that it is weekly and a monthly package. And you may or may not hear back from the soldier depending on where they are at the time.(in the field not so easy to write back) But means so much to them.

On the regular pen pal. My daughter is writing to 2 girls from Sweden. It got started in her class last year through her teacher. I know there is a pen pal for kids kind of website though I don't know what it is. When I was a kid it was the Big Blue Marble. And I still remember my pen pal's name She was Jessel from Trinidad. We wrote for years! I should try to find her.
