Pen for autograph books?

Okay, so aside from trying to get a thicker pen for the characters to hold, can anyone think of anything to be looking for in a pen? Do sharpies bleed through the pages? Can anyone tell me a brand name that worked well for them?

They sell the pens in the park but I've also seen them at the dollar store (with disney characters even). They are fat ball point pens - about the width of those stick sunscreen rub ons.

I really like the ones from Staples. I think they are called Kooky-they are fat, they have a retractable tip and they have a clip which is easy to attach to your backpack or fanny pack. I had mine attached to my fanny pack and it was so easy to grab when we saw a character.

The character's didn't have any problems using it last year at DL and some of them were pretending to keep it.

I was just at Staples today and they are $1.99 up here in Canada. They have faces on them and hair! I almost bought another one!

About 5 trips ago, my DS was struck with the revelation that he wanted to collect character autographs. Since my DW or I had no time to prepare (aka bring stuff from home) we walked into the nearest gift shop. Along with the book we found a nice fat blue (pen color, not ink) pen with a black MM head on top. We've used it ever since with absolutly no issues. Hope this helps...:smickey:

We've always used retractable Sharpies. They don't bleed through the autograph pages. I just picked up an 8 pack of different colors on clearance at Office Depot for $6!

That's what we use too. I think the costumed characters have an easier time with those, not having to deal with taking the caps off.

I don't know what to use either. I have tons of Sharpies, used to work for the people that make them. But sharpies stain and they are very very tough to get out. They are made that way. So, I really can't trust the 3 year old with them. I am afraid she will have it all over her hands and she will definitely get it on her clothes (which I want to be cute for pictures so she will wear some nicer stuff). Just depends on the age of your kids and if they can handle a sharpie.

Retractable Sharpies here too! Work like a charm and we have gotten plenty of thumbs up from the characters when we hand it to them! I agree, I think they appreciate not having to fumble with a lid etc. and it's SO much easier to grip than a plain old ballpoint! No bleeding through pages for us!
