Sitting on my balcony at kidani facing the pembe savannah right now and I gotta say... If this was my first experience at akl, I would never have purchased akl points. This is feels like the most half a$$ed thing Disney has ever put together. 10 yards of mud pits with and occasional bird walking by, the most prominent thing out here is the 10 feet high double fence. Doesn't feel like any thought or effort has been put in to making this savannah feel natural or authentic.. I've had better experiences in my back yard. Im very disappointed Disney has deemed this good enough

The Pembe savannah does leave a lot to be desired. Especially compared to the Sunset savannah. Neither one really has a savannah feel but there are a lot more animals on the Sunset side.

My suggestion is to request Sunset the next time you book.

I remember in the promo video about building Kidani Village, they were hyping up the "special" savanna that is "exclusive" to Kidani Village. When we did the Wanyama Safari while Kidani was still under construction, they said that the red river hogs and the okapi would ONLY be on the Pembe savanna, making it even more "special".

Well, it would have been nice if they would have made it an actual *savanna* instead of what looks like a holding pen and walkway to the Sunset savanna:headache:. It is really too small and the rooms that face it are getting a really miserable savanna view. Unfortunately, because there is a direct view of what Disney calls a savanna, I don't see the possibility of re-classifying the rooms on the Pembe savanna. I think they dropped the ball on this one...

(I remember someone saying the JL made the decision to skimp on the quality of BLT furnishings because he figured if it looked good, people would purchase and then the dues would pay for the refurbishments. I wonder if the same thought went into the development of the Pembe savanna...just call it a savanna...label it "exclusive"...who cares if it is just a strip of grass with 5 animals on it...nobody will notice:rolleyes1)

It doesn't matter if you request Sunset Savannah, you could still get the Pembe Savannah. That is what happened to us last year. I had 4 boys with us, aged 15 to 7, and all they wanted to see was giraffes and zebras from our balcony. Imagine the disappointment when they tried to put us on the Pembe savannah. I don't usually make a fuss about room assignments - we roll with the punches, but I had to speak up about the Pembe savannah. They eventually "found" us a 2 bedroom villa on the Sunset savannah.

It made me so upset that I emailed DVC, and talked to someone in the executive office. Pembe should be an assigned villa category - you should know upfront if that is the view you are receiving when you book. I certainly wouldn't spend the extra points for a savannah view, if I knew I would be looking at the Pembe savannah. I even told the DVC CM that all of the sales/advertising for Kidani shows giraffes and zebras outside your villa, which is false advertising if you are unfortunate enough to get a room on the Pembe savannah.
