How far of a swim is it out there and how deep is the water? I have a 10 year old that can swim in the pool, but I'm not so sure about her swimming in deep ocean water for very far. I'm kinda the same way myself. Should we take our floats out there or get my child a lifevest? Can you stand out there in the water?

You can not stand out there. It is pretty deep. I never felt the bottom, even going down the slide. They have a ton of life vests there and actually insisted my DD7 wear one even though she is a really good swimmer. DS9 was not asked to wear a vest. I am not sure how far it it to get out there, but it took us about 2 or 3 minutes to swim out, not too far.

It is pretty deep - could not touch, but is not very far (2 minutes tops). My almost 10 year old was able to do it fine. They make anyone under 48" wear a vest.

Water depth and the swim can vary due to the tide. the average depth for PP is about 8-9 feet or so. Either way its still not a very long swim and you can walk almost 1/2 way there.
