I had a wonderful long phone visit with Peggie today. I promised her I would post an update and a general Halllloooo!
to all her DIS pals.
Overall, she is feeling stronger and less "ouchy" every day. Her "nursing staff" is keeping her from doing too much, but she is up and about most of the day. Peggie has been able to reduce her pain medication to a minimum, but admitted that typing on the computer is still difficult.
Yesterday she met with the oncologist and the news was very encouraging. Not all her lymph nodes were involved, and he said that he saw little infiltration into surrounding tissue, so he feels confident that they got all the major growth out. No bone or other organs appear to be involved. This is really good news!
Now they will go after any little varmints that are hiding out.
Starting next week, Peggie will begin 16 weeks of chemo, and then on to some radiation after that.
Many of us escape to the parks to counteract the tough times in our lives. But Peggie admitted that her last trip was tainted by the cancer and upcoming surgery. So to recalibrate her "Mickey"
clock, she is planning a celebratory Disney cruise -- hopefull some time next Spring.
Once again, Peggie sends her thanks for all the wonderful wishes, cards, gifts, etc.!
