I had a wonderful long phone visit with Peggie today. I promised her I would post an update and a general Halllloooo! to all her DIS pals. :earsgirl:

Overall, she is feeling stronger and less "ouchy" every day. Her "nursing staff" is keeping her from doing too much, but she is up and about most of the day. Peggie has been able to reduce her pain medication to a minimum, but admitted that typing on the computer is still difficult.

Yesterday she met with the oncologist and the news was very encouraging. Not all her lymph nodes were involved, and he said that he saw little infiltration into surrounding tissue, so he feels confident that they got all the major growth out. No bone or other organs appear to be involved. This is really good news! ::yes::

Now they will go after any little varmints that are hiding out. :magnify: :smooth: Starting next week, Peggie will begin 16 weeks of chemo, and then on to some radiation after that.

Many of us escape to the parks to counteract the tough times in our lives. But Peggie admitted that her last trip was tainted by the cancer and upcoming surgery. So to recalibrate her "Mickey" :wizard: clock, she is planning a celebratory Disney cruise -- hopefull some time next Spring. :boat:

Once again, Peggie sends her thanks for all the wonderful wishes, cards, gifts, etc.!

Thank you for the update! I have been thinking of Peggie all week and hoping she is doing well. I didn't want to call her because I didn't want to bother her.

So glad about the good news! Being a nurse (like Peggie) and hearing what initially was going on, thoughts run rampant....Peggie and I talked about how sometimes knowing so much is not always a good thing!

Fine...a cruise. Sure...go cruising without me. I will remember this! hehehehehehehe

Keep taking it slow and easy Peggie!

Love you!

I am doing better and as I told Dan today I wouldn't be doing as well if it wasn't for all the wonderful people I have supporting me.
My right arm is tired so typing for a long time is hard but I will try and get on line once in as while to say hi.
My nurse Ratchet (Richie) won't let me overdo at all, he is being so wonderful to me, and doing all the nasty jobs for me that I can't do alone like milking my drains 3 times a day (Yuck!)
OK, here is the collector part to keep this on topic. I think you will all get a kick out of this.
I was having a problem with my drains pulling on the clothing I have them pinned to, so being the collector I am I pinned them to a lanyard. Lanyards, there not just for pins anymore!
I will fight this with all I have because according to my Dr yesterday I am cancer free.
He said that once the tumor has been removed you are considered cancer free with only cells to deal with. My tumor was 3.5 cm and 9 of the 14 lymph glands were involved, but they are all out.
I have cancer cells which have not become cancer and he will get them with the chemo before they can. He did say they could find a new site but the chances are small because we are starting chemo quickly.
I have my MUGA scan on Tuesday to check the strength of the beat of my heart. Chemo sometimes causes heart problems so they will follow that closely.
I get the port put in at the one day stay at St Vincent's on Wednesday and my first chemo is scheduled for Thursday. So next week will be another busy week.
And when Uncle Sam sends me my money next year I am booking a cruise. That pin cruise I went on in May of 2002 was the best vacation I ever had and I can't wait to do another. So I have something to look forward to, and will go as soon as my hair grows in enough next summer.
Thanks for all the cards, letters, gifts, IM's PM's and prayers. Prayer is most important, keep them coming. Peggie

Peggie, sounds like things are going well. All my best wishes for you.

He said she is doing okay...major, majorly sore on the right arm and chest: While that was expected, doesn't make it any more fun!

Today is the MUGA scan, Wed the intraveneous port and Thurs starts chemo.

She told Ray she got her hair cut shorter in prep for losing it to chemo. She said her ears are cold already! Does anyone here know how to knit a Mickey winter hat?

She did go out for a short bit to the store, She said it felt good to get out of the house and get into the fresh air.

You are doing great Peggie, we are all pulling, praying and thinking of and for you!

Peggy...you don't know me because I'm mostly a lurker but I had to write and say....WAY TO GO, GIRL!!!!!
My husband went through cancer surgery this summer and we're sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next whack upside the head. It's coming, we just don't know when. I can relate to all you've been through. God Bless You!

Peggie- thinking positive thoughts and Pixie Dust for you...I'm glad the pathology report was much better than anticipated...we're all "pulling for you"

Talked to Peggie on IM for a few secs.
She said typing with one hand really #$%&s!
She had the MUGA scan okay, heart is okay.
She is seeing the doc tomorrow as well getting the port put in, and she is hoping one or more of the drains can come out.
I had drains once too, and they are highly annoying and very irritating to the skin at the entry point.

Please keep Peggie in your prayers.....Thursday is her first chemo day and I can only imagine how overwhelming and stressful that will be for her.

Oh and Peggie...assuming you reading these...I will be in Epcot on Sunday and plan to drink AT LEAST one frozen margarita in your honor. But I have to be careful with the ECV....don't want to drink and drive!

Peggie, we are still thinking about you and praying that you have a quick recovery!
