Peeing on the side of the road

Well, the Tour De Georgia came through here a few days ago. I was really excited about watching it and wanted to cheer on Lance Armstrong. While I was watching, I noticed a LARGE amount of the cyclist were pulling off the road and urinating in public view!!! I later learned that most of the cyclist were from foreign countries and this was commonplace there. I was just wandering if this was true? Can our foreign friends confirm or debunk this tale?

A visit to NYC would shock you. In a matter of 30 minutes I saw 4 men peeing in public. Must be common for Americans too.

I must admit I haven't been to NY. I was honestly curious if this was a cultural thing or what.

LOL thanks for the laugh. We have the Ironman Triathalon here, and there are those portable potties, but if they have to urinate, many of them don't want to waste their time and just urinate on their bike. Sounds yucky, but if you are competitive, then I guess it's the thing to do.

Unfortuneately in Italy this is a common occurance, especially on the autostrade (Italy's interstate highway). It is no big deal to them and some don't even turn their backs. And some of them don't just urinate.

It's not common place in England but a little more in mainland Europe. Plus in many mainland Europe countries they do not have propper toilets in roadside stops, they have a tray (a bit like a shower tray) in the floor!!! I will not use them. I would rather wait!!

I have been known to pee on the side of the road if I REALLY have to go and there is no bathroom available even remotely close by. I always try to get WAAAYYY into the woods or at least get on the other side of the car(away from the road) and open both car doors and stand between them. Blocks the view a little! This is only in cases of EXTREME emergency remember!!!!

I remember several years ago we were in Boston on the T, and there was a very dishevelled man in the car with us. He stepped off the T at the same stop we did, leaned up againt the wall, and proceeded to defecate right there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There were people going by, in every direction(it was a subway platform for goodness sakes!!!), and here was this guy leaning up against the wall taking a you-know-what! I must have looked like a hayseed from Green Acres, because I was FLABBERGASTED!!!!!!!! My DH, who had lived in Boston for several years when he was younger, barely even noticed.

That was so funny I spit coke all over my monitor! I've also been known to venture WAAAAAAY in the woods if I had to go really bad (god help me if there was a rattlesnake anywhere around!)

On a recent road trip to Cleveland, I had to go REALLY bad. We got off the Thruway and there was NOTHING for miles. I admit, I was dying, so DH pulled over and I walked waaaaaayy back in the woods (through thigh-high snow) and got some relief. But man, was it COLD!!!! Don't hope to do that ever again.

I know I have done it numerous times you know when nature calls unless you have a bottle inthe car to pee in then the side of the road is the next best thing.

You Guys are so lucky, give ya a bottle and you're good to go! Us Ladys have to find a rest area or trek waaaaaay in the woods! However, I reckon some might just consider the side of the road fair game!

Tiggersmom2 I agree it is nice to be a guy in those situations and well most situations I guess I couldn't handle going through what women go through every month etc. Ya I always try to keep an empty bottle in the car with me when I travel long distances.
