I generally get a few pedicures during the summer season. I spend most work days, on my feet in steel toed work shoes. I've read that it's a bad idea to get a pedicure before WDW. I plan on using my comfy (broken in)walking shoes. Any comments or suggestions??

:thumbsup2

There is nothing wrong with feeling pretty for your vacation. In fact, it might even help start you off early in a Disney state of mind. I say go for it:)

I always get a pedi before vacation! When we aren't in the parks my feet are in sandals and I want them looking pretty:)

Go for the pedicure :thumbsup2 My DH laughs at me when I go get a pedicure each month. I only get them in the Summer. We are going to WDW in Sept. and I am already trying to decide how I should get my toes painted for out trip. Ha ha

My only word of warning: Don't let them remove all of the calluses on the bottom of your feet. They are part of your feets' natural padding, so to speak. Buffing is fine, but leaving you with completely smooth and tender soles, unable to withstand walking 5-6 miles per day, is not.

I agree. I got a pedicure before I went to the Bahamas one year and could not fiqure out why my feet were getting tender and sore on the heels. It was because the caluses (sp?) were gone. Shows you how bad my feet are! I would just paint my toenails myself and go. Get the pedicure when you get back to help lift the depression of not being at Disney anymore :sad2:

oooh....definitely yea! :)

I had one before our honeymoon and my toes were pretty enough to take pictures of (trust me, I did!).

You might consider also bringing some foot cream (Clinique has a nice one that's kind of peppermint-y) to help keep your tootsies happy during vacation!

Nothing wrong with feeling pretty....and the more pretty feet in sandals the better for everyone .... :cheer2:

I have been an esthetician for 15 years.

It is OK to get a pedi before you go but my suggestion would be to do it 2-3 weeks before. This way the calluses have some time to re-build because they are natural protection (note: excessive calluses can also cause you foot pain--you must keep them in check). Then, the week you are leaving, go and have just your toe nails clipped, shaped and cuticles cleaned up. Add a fresh polish job to this and you are all set. Your toes will be pretty and still have some protection.

I never recommend people to try either a new service or new service provider immediately before an important event. So, make sure that you know exactly who is going to be doing your service.

I get one before we go, I like to make sure my toe nails are good and short so that they don't hit the front of my shoes and make my feet sore. Plus I like my toes done, especially in the middle of the winter. My winter feet are not something I want anyone to see

I even took my DS for one just before our December trip.

Not only am I getting one but my esthetician said she will put mickey's on my nails for me. :dance3: So if you are in the world the beginning of Oct and see a pooh sized woman with cute mickey toenails, say hello.

I say go for it. I have pedicures during summer and I get gel nails done (so I don't have to keep on removing polish/repolishing! Lasts for a few weeks and doesn't chip! I'd also have one when you get back!!! Those feet are going to be tired!! ;)
Enjoy.
:cheer2:

one must ALWAYS have a pedi before sandal wearing vacations!! I think it's a law...besides...it's art for your feet...it's good for your soul! :artist: ;)

Great advice! This is what I'm planning to do. Thanks.

i think that you should get a pedi. before vacation and you could even ask were ever you get your nails done at if the could paint them red with a black mickey head on the toes. thats what i am doing befor my trip :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I love my pedicures and I love my feet looking pretty for Mickey. However you do need some calluses because of all the walking you will be doing. So maybe you could get your pedicure about 10 days ahead of time. Enjoy!

My one and only thing I ever do "Just for me" is to get a pedicure every 3 weeks. I got one right before my trip, and didnt get a single blister. Pedicured feet are happy, healthy feet. If you wear the right shoes, and the right socks you should be fine.
Then you can break out the sandals and flip flops and display your pretty feet after a long day of walking. :thumbsup2
