I'm so hoping we won't need this information, but I have a feeling that it's the kind of thing that if I don't have it, we will need it.

What's the name & contact info of the pediatric urgent care center by WDW that was mentioned on a long ago podcast?

Thanks!

I'm not sure which one was mentioned on the podcast, but this is the one I'm familiar with and is recommended by my pediatrician.

Windemere and Hunters Creek are probably the closest to Disney, depending on where you're staying.

I was looking for this also! I am coming with an 8 month old this summer and can never be too prepared

we prefer to use the visiting doctor service, so as not to be exposed to the other sick people in the waiting room.

I think that the visiting service we use is associated with Centra Care (the walk in service right by WDW)..

whenever the kids have been sick, we called the front desk and asked for the number of the visiting doctor service (this was at a disney resort).

they come very quickly and the doctors are excellent.

by the way, i just looked up the Centra Care urgent care clinic that's right by WDW (in lake buena vista) - that location is open until midnight..
they also have many other locations in orlando.. (their website: http://www.centracare.org/ )

the following is from their website (i highlighted the free transportation in red...i didn't know they had that)

Welcome to Centra Care!

Urgent Medical Care for the Central Florida Area
When your family is sick or injured, there’s only one choice: Centra Care. Centra Care is Florida’s only hospital affiliated urgent care provider with 18 urgent care locations in the Orlando Area and across Central Florida, including Lake, Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.

Centra Care’s Board-Certified Adult and Pediatric-Trained Doctors are accessible when you need us, 7 days-a-week, some until midnight. Centra Care is the affordable alternative to the emergency room for urgent, non life-threatening medical care.
For visitors to Orlando, our Physician Room Service allows you to receive quality medical care in the comfort of your hotel room, or our free transportation can take you to our closest facility from most area attractions, resorts, and hotels. From broken bones, infections, allergies and pediatric concerns to orthopedic conditions and stomach problems, Centra Care has the medical experts and urgent care technology to help you feel better again!

Call (407) 200-CARE (2273) to locate a Centra Care facility near you!

As a reminder, call your health insurance provider and ask them if there are certain clinics in the WDW area that are approved with your plan. Also, ask them what your co-pay would be when using said clinic. We ran into a situation a few years ago where the clinic we went to insisted on charging a $25 co-pay (even though ours was usually $12), and we paid it just assuming it was higher because we weren't going to our normal PCM. That was not the case at all and the clinic should have refunded the difference, which did not happen. Know before you go!

we also use the visiting doctor service for our kids (when they were younger)...

for the same reason, i didn't want to get us exposed to whatever everyone in the waiting room is sick with...

i think we've used them at least 4 times.....all 4 times the doctors were outstanding....i was very impressed by them..

Is there an extra charge for the doctors to come to the resort?

i think so....it wasn't cheap, but i didn't want to get us exposed...
when the kids were younger, we would come to the states for a month...the last thing i needed was for them to get exposed to something and get even sicker later on..

if you need a doctor, you can call and see what the difference in cost is and then decide...

Went there one year when ds spiked a scary fever. They were wonderful! I can't remember why we didn't have the doctors come to the resort but I think they couldn't get there right away and I was afraid to wait too long. Afterhours were very good!

Appreciate this thread! We will be traveling with our 14 month old (at that time) and you never know when you need something like this :)
