I am new to the boards and they have been great, but not at all new to DW or FW. I had the honor of my dad doing some of the work out there before it was even opened and have been every year of my life since. I recently lost my dad and was visting my mom and looking at old photos when I came across one of me buying drinks/snacks off an old peddler's truck. I was wondering, does this truck still make the rounds? I was there with my DW and DD in Dec. and my DW is taking back for my birthday in 2 weeks (02/18-21) and was just wondering since I did not see it when there, if it still goes around. Thanks!!

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry about the loss of your dad.

Unfortunately, the chuck wagon stopped running way back in the late 70's. It was fun to have it come right to your site with fresh eggs, milk, donuts, etc...

Sorry to hear about your father.

Had never heard of this wagon, but what a great idea! Would also be neat if the ice cream truck made the rounds, especially during summer.

Have a great time for your birthday:bday:

Thank you both, he was a great guy who loved DW as well....
The truck from what I could remember seeing in the photo, looked like an old timey truck, the photo is kind of dark, but I might try to scan it and post it for all to see. It is funny how things come and go and you do not remember. It would be a great thing to see again making the rounds at FW. I am going to search for more photos and see if I can find the one of me on a train in FW.

I think I speak for us all when I say that we'd love to see any old pics from Fort Wilderness... we are fiends for that kinda stuff!

I will be at my parents tomorrow to visit my mom and to scan the photos....
They sure make me long for my next trip there in 12 days.

Can't wait to see your pictures! As Shan-Man said, we are all here for things like this. Have a great trip!!

I am scanning in several and will get them posted, might have to ask for help, which it seems I will get, everyone on here is great. I think it will be great to show everyone this truck and how cool it was, maybe we can get WDW to bring it back to FW....

Have a great day!

I do, I do ,I can remember our 60's Shasta trailor with the wings being in the 300 loop right next to the dirt path to the beach. I remember my mother buying milk and eggs one morning. I look forward to the pictures.
They should bring it back I think people would use it.

Ok, I have tried to figure out how to upload photos and do not know how to, so, if you can, please help....

Thanks!

the easiest way I have found is to upload them to imageshack and they give you a copy and paste for the boards

Lets see if this works. AuburnJen, thanks and a big WAR EAGLE!!

Oh, it says I have to have 10 post before I can post photos, so I am going to try go and post some more so I can share these photos.

Ok, lets see. Maybe this will work. I am in the picture purchasing a snack or something, man, I wished this truck would come back.

Ok, it did work. Here is another one of the truck. This is from 1975-76 I think.

That's so neat! We used to go to a campground in Vermont every summer and "the pie man" would make the rounds every day. Similar sort of truck and I think that was part of the excitement!

Here is another I found, it is my aunt and the driver is holding my cousin. Glad you guys have enjoyed them, I also posted 2 from the Bicentennial (sp) celebration, one is of the parade and the other is a special flower arrangement, in the fashion of the Mickey head at the train station.
