I am SOOOOO craving a piece of pecan pie.

Maybe I'll try to make one this weekend...anyone have a good recipe?

Go buy a bottle of Karo Daark Corn Syrup. It's on the baking aisle in your grocery store. Follow the recepie on the bottle and add a few more pecans than it says. It's a really good recipe.

And remember its a pa can, not a pee can. Pee can's are also know as slop jars. You really don't want to go there.

My mom also uses the recipe on the Karo bottle, and every one always raves about her pie. They think she has some special recipe.

Well, that sounds easy! I like it!

I pronounce it pa cahn. But in my head when I see it written I always hear Billy Crystal's voice saying "peecan pie" (When Harry Met Sally, I think)

I love Pecan Pie. A couple years ago my Aunt made one that included brown sugar and molassas insted of or in addition to Karo syrup. That one was excellent.

YUMMY!!!! Can I have some? I won't be home long enough to make one this weekend since I'll be at the Cranberry Festival all weekend.

I also always buy the karo syrup and use the recipe on there. It comes out really well and it's not hard at all.

tricia.

Oh and I forgot, one time we put chocolate chips in it and OMG it was insanely good! You could give that a try if you're a chocolate fan.

tricia.

Mmmmm. Pecan Pie.

I use the recipe from The Joy of Cooking, which is pretty similar to the Karo syrup one, but I find the JOC pies come out tastier. If you don't have a copy of the JOC, just follow the Karo syrup recipe, except do the following as well: toast the pecans for about 10 minutes before folding them into the syrup mixture and bake the pie shell for about 5 minutes before filling it.

I like my pecan pies with lots of nuts and just enough syrup just to coat the nuts, so I use more pecan than the recipes say, and wind up throwing away the syrup filling.

I also use the one from the Karo syrup bottle...but I use the clear syrup. I didn't know that there was a dark syrup option.

My mom's recipe uses Pecans, bronw sugar, a little bit of milk, and egg and butter. Not as sweet as karo, but really, really good.

1/2 cup dark Karo syrup
1/2 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp flour - rounded tablespoon
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp melted butter
1/3 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups of pecans pieces or halfs

Beat eggs, add flour and brown sugar. Mix well. Add the dark and light syrups, salt, butter and vanilla.

Place pecan pieces in the bottom of an unbaked pie crust. Pour the filling mixture over the pecans. Place pie on a cookie sheet before baking.

Bake 400 degrees for 10 minutes and then reduce temp to 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This is sooo yummy!

We like the recipe from the Grandma's Molasses bottle. Gotta make a couple for Thanksgiving dinner.

Grandma’s Pecan Pie

2/3 cup Grandma’s Mild Flavor Molasses
1 nine-inch unbaked pastry shell
2/3 cup dark corn syrup
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup flour
1/2 stick melted butter
1 1/2 cups whole pecans or pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs lightly in mixer, add remaining ingredients except pecans. Blend until just combined. Pour mixture into pastry shell and sprinkle with pecans. Bake 40 minutes or until filling is puffy and the crust is goden brown.

I love pecan pie, but I'm so not a baker, therefore I am eating a Pecan Caramel Brownie from Panera Breads. It is sooooooo good.
