In Blizzard Beach there was a kiosk selling pearls by the lockers, I was wondering if anyone had seen anymore of these pearl selling kiosks anywhere else in The World. I had noticed this on my last trip and toward the end so i didnt get to really look myself so any information would be wonderful thanks

I believe they sell them in the Japan pavilion at Epcot ... it's been a long time since I've been there, though.

I have heard they sell them still in the oysters and Japan in Epcot. You pick the oyster, they open it and you can have it set into a necklace. At least, that's what I've heard. I haven't bought one or even seen this.

I have purchased an oyster at the Japan pavillion. It was fun to watch them open it and clean it. It was also a big surprise when she hit a drum several times and announced there were two pearls this time.

There is a Japanese department store in the Japanese pavillion at EPCOT. My dd's love to pick a pearl. They have several oyster beds (inside glass display tanks) and you pick out an oyster. When they open the oyster they take out a pearl. Some of the pears are quite large. They come in all different colors and sizes. You can have the pearls set into jewelry while you wait. I can't remember how much it cost, I want to say it is around $15 ( I could be way off!).

My mom got a pearl bracelet from a kiosk in DTD in February. Also saw a kiosk at the Beach Club, near the pool, as we were walking by there.

I did the pick a pearl at the Japanese pavilion (department store under the restaurants) a few years ago. I didn't expect to get anything nice, but I ended up with a large, nice colored pearl. Hubby had them set it in a very simple gold band. Even today, it is one of my favorite Disney souvies.

Last trip (may 04) the pearls were still in Epcot (Japan) and at a kiosk in Downtown Disney--Marketplace side.

thank you everyone! i was very excited to read they have the pearls in dtd and in epcot, i had seen the pearl diving in seaworld on our last trip in august and now im really looking forward to trying it in japan next weekend. Does anyone remeber how much the settings were? its about $15 for the oyster but were the settings reasonable? Thank you again for all your feedback

There is also a kiosk in AK in Asia. I have purchased two pearls in the past, both in gold settings, one a necklace - very plain for about $80 and the other was a ring for about $230. There are also white gold settings availalble - many different types to choose from. You can save some $ by getting the pearl set for a necklace & using your own chain.

My DS LOVED the pearls at the Japanese Dept Store at Epcot. They do a nice job of making it a bit of a "show." You get to pick your oyster and they talk about the oyster/pearl. I believe you are guaranteed at least a 6.5 mm pearl. If you get a really large one or 2 pearls on one oyster, they will beat a small counter top drum. It's fun to watch - and DON'T miss the candy lady in Japan. She's a hoot. "Shiney, Shiney" became our catch phrase. She does a great job making candy and gives it away free! She's really a nice lady and it's such a nice treat.

When we stayed at CBR in 2000 there was a Pearl counter in the main area. My huspband jokes that we spent as much at that counter as we did on our trip. I got a ring and necklace for myself and a necklace for my sister.

I agree with Jocakaroo. It's my favorite Disney souvenier.

My kids picked out a pearl for me a couple of years ago. It was around $12 or 15 in DTD. I think the pearly places make thier money on the settings -- they were very expensive. The least expensive ones were like of dolphins, and while dolphins are nice, not something I wanted. I just brought the pearl home and went to my local jewelery store. I ordered a setting for necklace and it was a fraction of the cost. Nice souvenir!!!

I bought one at the Beach Club Kiosk and was pretty much forced to buy a setting...I ended up getting the cheapest necklace charm and the total was just over 35.00 for the pearl and the setting.

My DH & I bought a pearl on our last trip in DTD. We had just gotten back from a side trip to Blue Springs State Park (canoed with the manatees) and they had a manatee charm that we had the pearl set into. Then, when I got home I bought a chain. I figured I would never find a manatee setting in Oregon, and it is a very special souvenir.
