Peanut Allergy and Goofy's Candy Co.

Anyone w/ a peanut allergy able to purchase any treats at DTD Goofy's Candy Co.? I am thinking of things like the decorate a rice krispie treat or marshmallows, but anything would work. I really have a hard time finding treats for ds as most chocolate has a cross-contamination warning.

I want him to be able to have a special treat!

We just got back from WDW last night. I went through all the packaged candy at Goofy's to find something for DD to bring back for her classmates. Since 2 have peanut allergies I had to choose carefully. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that didn't have a warning on the label. Since I didn't want to take any chances we picked out pencils instead.

However, I bet if you ask at the counter they'd be able to help you with some things. Unfortunately this is a pretty common allergy so I'm guessing WDW would have things available for you.

My ds has a peanut allergy. It is pretty hard to find any candy for him at most places. I tend to bring my own with us.
I recall that in the Canada pavillion (or maybe it was England), they sell a candy that was like M & Ms, called Smarties, that is safe. You can try to make a big deal out of that, since our kids usually don't get M & Ms (though now there are kissables which are pretty similar).
Unfortunately, kids with peanut allergies miss out on most of the treats.

My brother has peanut allergies and there is a sesame-honey candy available in Morocco that is peanut-free that he usually enjoys. That's more of an adult flavor, though.

A plain rice krispie treat without chocolate (prewrapped) I believe (double check to be safe) is nut free. But, I do know how important it is to check. I was surprised to see peanut oil in hot chocolate mix once.

If you happen to do dinner at Boma (or Jiko), the culinary staff at AKL is amazing and will prepare special treats for anyone with allergies or restrictions. They are fantastic at special request and could likely make a fun treat.

Also, have you heard of Kellie's Candies (www.nutfreecandy.com)? They have great treats for those with peanut allergies and they're guaranteed nut free. They even have holiday themed treats- fantastic for kids. And chocolate chips for baking, too.

They are nut free but do have the cross contamination warning.

At Goofy's the only thing I could find without the cross contam warning was called Fruit Gems. They are in small packages with I think Snow White characters on them. They were like big Skittles. They also carried these in many of the gift shops on property.

The make your own treats will be out of the question. Nuts are one of the optional additions, so cross-contamination of other toppings is very likely.

Although the rice crispie would not have peanuts, the area where these are prepared has nuts, as this is also where they make the candy apples. Just a heads up.

Smarties would be in England as they are a British candy.

I have alot food allergies (not peanut) every resturant at WDW is great about handling allergies. I would ask any candy shop, they are very accomodating!!!

WDW is now carrying divvies products which are absolutely peanut free. They will carry caramel corn, jelly beans and prepackaged cookies.

Just wanted to add that Smarties are indeed a Canadian treat... could be British too? As the mother of a Canadian severely Peanut allergic dd, we have relied on Smarties heavily whenever it comes to treats!!! Safe and yummy. Be careful though, the Smarties that are formed into chocolate bars are not safe... not a peanut free processing zone. Stick to the loose ones in the boxes and you'll be fine. Also, in Canada, Kit Kat, Aero and Mars bars are peanut safe. Don't know about elsewhere? Have a great day!
