I'm sure it comes down to supply and demand, but double the price? I have priced a January cruise vs. a peak period cruise (April, etc.) and the price is roughly double!
This begs the question...why book in April? Weather is warmer, but in January, you can still swim on a Caribbean cruise, can't you? I'm seriously thinking of taking a January cruise rather than a mid year cruise...double the money is a lot of money. (Plus, frankly, even a "cheaper" January cruise is more money than I paid for my recent Princess cruise - in a mini suite.
