Peacocks at Animal Kingdom?

Random question, I know. My daughter loves peacocks and she wants to know whether they have her favorite animal anywhere at WDW. My best guess is that they might have them at Animal Kingdom but I don't remember. Anybody know? Thanks!

I know I've seen peacocks at Animal Kingdom. There are a couple of walking trails: Pangani in Africa (near Safari) has a large aviary. The Maharajah trail in Asia (near Kali River Rapids) has a smaller aviary, I think that's where I may have seen a peacock on last trip.

Edited to add that there are also birds around the Tree of Life, both in front, and the hidden trail behind the Tree (go left when you exit It's Tough to be a Bug). And birds in the Oasis when you first enter the park. I'm sure if you ask a park-ranger-dressed CM, they'll be able to tell you exactly where to go.

I've seen a few there, but also walking around at Fort Wilderness. However, I haven't been to FW in several years, so maybe someone else can confirm-I'm wondering if they were "corralled" and moved.

I saw a peacock on the maharajah trail. I think it was in the section right after the bats, but I can't remember exactly.

They traditionally were in Maharajah Jungle Trek, in the area where the deer and cattle are. We didn't see them when we were there about two weeks ago, though. They may have just been hiding.

I feel like we had seen them while in line for the safari, too.

yes, this is where the peacocks are ! They are not on the safari or in either trails bird area - just in the deer / antelope / cattle area - its after the main tiger areas right after a bridge as I recall. We didn't see them during our May trip but have seen them on previous trips

Actually, just before the bridge that separates the deer/cattle area from the second tiger area.

To the OP - just have your child realize that peacocks don't have a set schedule so while they might live in and around Disney World and Animal Kingdom specifically, they are just like any other creature in the world that doesn't punch a time clock and get paid. I wouldn't want a child to think that "there are peacocks at Animal Kingdom!" translates into "we are going to see peacocks at Animal Kingdom!"

If you go to Shades of Green (miltary resort by the Polynesian) you can sometimes see peacocks, wild turkey, alligator and deer. And no, you do not have to have military id to park and see some wildlife. Just tell them you are looking for wildlife and they will let you in. My mom is a former Captain in the Navy, we always stay there, and my husband parks there. For Octoberfest there were plenty non military parking. So they will let you in to scout about. But, I'm pretty sure there are peacocks in the Asia trek.

I know it is a little appreciated skill but I can do an exact imitation of a peacock call. Years ago my college friends and I were at the Cleveland Zoo and whenever I did it they would answer me across the property..... it is loud! :)

They are definitely right after the bats on the Maharajah Jungle Trek with the deer and cattle. They usually like to hide out in the shade of the bushes right next to the viewing area.

the bats are before the tigers so the peacocks are after the main tiger area in a little alcove kind of area on the LEFT - you need to move off of the main trail to get to that area.

I don't think they are at FW anymore. I remember seeing them years ago, but I think I read they were transferred to AK.

They may still like to hang out there, but a few weeks ago we were there and the bushes had been cut back quite a bit. Didn't see them that day.

Cool! She'll be happy to know there's a chance. According to her her best day ever was on our vacation last year when we took her to the LA arboretum and we saw a ton of peacocks, pea hens and pea chicks. Random things kids get into. Thanks for the information!

There were a couple peahens hanging out just past the tiger area on May 17. I sat on a bench for about an hour and they were there the whole time.
