Peacock Theme Sweet 16 Birthday

Our DD is turning 16 in July. We are looking for ideas for her party. She LOVES anything peacock. The theme I was thinking about is Masquerade but then I am stuck. The party will be in our home. We live in OH so the weather should be warm. I am looking for ideas from food, costumes and things to keep these teens busy. It will be an evening party. PLEASE HELP. So far for colors, I have a teal and lime green items. Some peacock feathers.

I would suggest going online to Etsy. I bet you could find loads of ideas and items there. I've found several cute things for trips, parties, etc.

Sounds like an awesome theme! I am sure it is not budget, but it would be very cool to have some live peacocks walking around in the yard! The Dallas Zoo had a large flock of peacocks when I was a child and they were so impressive and beautiful!

Mine aren't that old yet, but remember back a long way to when I was 16, I believe that 16 - 18 year olds tend to want to make their OWN fun. As in, I don't think I would 'prepare' too much for them. Just be sure to have an ipod stocked with favorite tunes and a good set of speakers to play them. Then, depending on your dd's friends likes/dislikes maybe:

Fooseball or billiards table available for playing
Cards if they're into poker or anything like that
For an outdoor party - I know a lot of older teens around here like bonfires in the evening....maybe some things to toast over the bonfire

Other than that - I would want my parents to stock a lot of food, say 'hi' and maybe check-in once in a great while, but otherwise make themselves scarce.

I think these are good suggestions my teens like the Xbox Kinect and Just Dance. Boys and girls play it and laugh and have a good time. A favorite game is Apples to Apples.

Since I live near Mobile, AL and New Orleans I immediately think Mardi Gras when I think of masquerade--you could google some Mardi Gras ideas for activities.

Cracker Barrel has a whole section of peacock items. They were really nice .
