have booked PE for the first time with Virgin (another story about that coming soon), Would like to know which would be the best seats to book in the upper deck area.

From Gatwick? If yes, our favourite seats are the exit seats halfway down the cabin (albeit you can't book them until check-in), or the ones at the back on either side. Matt likes the exit seats because he's 6' 3", but I probably prefer the ones at the back because you can recline your seats without fear of upsetting anyone. The ones on the right-hand side have a handy side table on the aisle seat.

The back row on left has the little table, we had these in March, but I actually prefer the back row on right which is row 80.

Gill's right about the left. :rotfl: I was never any good with my rights and lefts!

Yes agree with Gill, DH is 6ft 4in and he prefers to be at the back so we can recline easily.

Claire ;)

Yes the same as the LGW planes as they are actually swapped around depending on what is needed where, unless due to maintainence a LHR plane is switched in for a route.

Another advantage of back row, right hand side is you can be first down the stairs and, depending on whether you are kept back to allow First Class passengers off, be among the first off the plane.

Are the back row seats on the left able to recline as i think they are by the stairs. I have just changed our seating to rows 79 and 80
Thanks

Yes there is a space behind these seats so they recline just as well as those elsewhere.

we always book the bulkhead seats (as we have the littlies) upstairs and its great for us, lots of legroom and noone infront. Alternatively there are the midway seats where I think there is an emergency exit (I may be wrong) but I know theres a "gap" between rows there so again you'd get great legroom and space.

Bulkhead can be requested but is given out on priority - e.g children first, then medical reasons etc..

has anyone got photos please, i have seen the ones on the website, but i would like to see them from a normal passengers view

thanks for the link.
we have upstairs reserved for our flight back from orlando but going we are flyinf to NY so not on a 747

What is your flight number into NY?, as the majority of the LHR-JFK are done by the 747.

the flight is VS003, on the VA website seating plan it is not a 747 it is a A340-600 (Config 2)

No, you are right, VS03 1% 747-400, 1% A340-300 (Suite) 98% A340-600. At least you get V-Port as a consolation :-)
