Having just seen DISwolves beautiful plane food as he flys aerlingus, I decided to google VA PE food as we fly with them in a couple of weeks. I have to say it looks slightly disappointing. It appears to be the same slop but on a china plate!!! Anybody flown PE with VA recently any thoughts on the food?

I flew with them in May. I'd say your description is accurate although the vege meal on the way out was okay. You get a load of booze though especially going home.

The food is pretty disappointing and if you are near the back of the PE section, the chances are that you won't get a choice in any case. They always seem to run out of something. The food on BA last year was much more impressive. Unfortunately, the overall BA experience was not as good as the food!

It is a slightly better experience than economy but certainly not Biz Class standard.

Thanks all, I'll do what I usually do and eat before I fly!!

I actually thought the PE and economy food was the same, but served in a different way!

I've actually enjoyed the meals on our last 3 PE flights. The choice of fresh bread rolls and the little salt and pepper shakers are a nice touch.

We thought the food was slightly better in Premium but still not amazing. Wine with dinner was much better than economy, was also nice to get drink when boarding and Baileys after dinner too. Although the hot food was only slightly better than economy, it was nice to have Salmon with the salad (rather than plain in economy) and a slightly better dessert than economy. Only thing that didn't work in premium was the hot breakfast, scrambled eggs were a bit bouncy!

Overall experiance was great though (but always was in economy too), staff always happy to help and fetched me a hot chocolate as I didn't wand coffee after dinner :)

I posted this on another thread but here it is on this one as well..
This is the vegetarian offering with VA PE last November...ooh that looks so yummy I hear you say:rotfl:

The food on the way back wasn't even worth a photograph...:rotfl:

It was ok food but I certainly would have sent it back if I'd been in a restaurant and got that!

The food from USA to UK is never as good on Virgin (and have been told its the same on BA). I think the quality of ingredients maybe is worse in America?

The food wasn't great but then in my opinion all plane food sucks.
we take marks and spencers sandwhiches with us and pasta salads etc, it keeps us fed and full.

On the way back just pop into quiznos or somewhere and do the same.

We fly PE for other reasons.

We flew home with TC last week, food was edible but not great. Heard cabin crew apologising and saying the food home is never as good as outbound, they are tied to US suppliers and they are nowhere near as good as UK suppliers.
I have no idea what their outbound meals are like, only flown one way with them but relatives went out with TC yesterday and said food was good.

I know plane food isn't the best but in reality how difficult must it be to serve up to 500 people all at the same time hot, pre prepared food with minimal space to store and eat, but can our plane food be as bad as this http://realbusiness.co.uk/article/2...he-best-virgin-atlantic-complaint-letter-ever

I remember reading that letter a few years back and it made me cry with laughter. It still does. :rotfl2:

Luckily our food isn't quite a bad, but we def still take our own food on with us nowadays. :goodvibes
