Has anyone tried this breakfast lately? I am just wondering how the food is. We would like to see Mickey at a meal, but I love the breakfast at Storytellers so I am torn.

Any thoughts?

We've been in November, so not exactly recent. But until someone with more current experience turns up I hope my comments will do.

We love it there. Have you ever been to the Lilo& Stitch Breakfast at Paradise Pier? The menu is still very similiar to that, with some new additions like flatbread with different things on them, I think I had bacon and eggs.

In my eyes it is very different to Storytellers, quite loud and lively.

Quality of food is about the same. I personally prefer the PCH Grill selection a little more, but that is down to personal taste.

Here's a recent thread about Surf's Up, which may be of interest to you:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2672382

In that thread I posted links to all of DizNee Luver's Surf's Up photos from her meal there in 2010, which include food pictures and character stuff.

Among our regular DIS'ers, I know that DizNee Luver (Laurie) loves Surf's Up - both for food and character interaction. I also know that TheColtonsMom (Sherri) is also a big fan of Surf's Up.

More often than not, I see good reviews of Surf's Up. Of course there are the occasional bad reviews - which happens with every restaurant and character meal - but I'd say that, for the most part, people love that particular character meal.

I've not tried Surf's Up myself yet, but I have a feeling I will be trying it this year.

LOVED it when we went. Best character interaction I've ever had. The food was really good for a buffet, IMO. It wasn't gourmet, but it was definitely better than most I've had.

If you love the food at Storyteller's are you talking buffet or off the menu? If you do the buffet at storytellers then surf's up is even better.. has evertything storytellers has plus flatbread breakfast pizza, mini churros (DS6 loved these 2 items) chorizo & eggs that are yummy and done to order at the omlet station and banana smoothies!

The character stuff was wonderful! Pluto taught the kids to dance the swim... Stitch & Pluto taught them how to surf.. Daisy danced with them and Even Mickey danced between photo ops (The only "main" character at the 4 character meals we did that did any during the meal interaction at all)

There are tons of pics of this breakfast on our Christmas TR (linked in my sig)
But here is a teaser

I'd choose it over Storytellers. Now we all like different things, though. I like it for the Chilaquiles and there is a chorizo and egg pizza. The omlette bar is of course the same. Dh and I go for breakfast even without the kids so obviously not for the character interaction...:rotfl: But when with the kids, the little one occasionally gets up for the "surfing". If it's slow, Mickey just kind of hangs loose at the front and interacts with any kids wandering around that area.

Story tellers is AMAZING... I mean really amazing! This is me who hates buffetes. Goofy's kitchen.. was so so. Plaza was good. Never done PCH or whatever.

Thanks for the replies I think this will be a fun change for our family! Now to decide how early we want to get up.

Went to Surf's Up yesterday, and we'll be doing it again in the future. Excellent food, lots of interactions, and a laid back, fun atmosphere. :lovestruc

;m thinking about trying Surfs Up for the first time next month. Is it busy enough weekdays in May that you think one should make a preferred dining reservation? I have to call for our traditional CO lunch anyways but haven't really picked a day yet to do a char bkfast. I usually skip them bc I feel like I'm missing out on park time when I have energy. Wish they'd do character lunches when I'm tired and ready to sit & enjoy AC in the mid afternoon and watch the characters entertain DS4.

I would, as long as you're on the phone with them anyhow. I always make ours late morning so it sort of serves as breakfast and lunch. And quite often, dinner is just a snack after the buffet anyhow.

My wife and I did Surfs Up a couple weeks ago. We didn't get to surf however. Food was good but nothing great. The potatoes had some wierd spice which we could not identify. Lots of variety so I'm sure everyone could find something.

Decent character interaction although I'm not a Stitch fan. Also had Mortimer (I think) which I've not seen anywhere else (although I don't believe he'd be missed). Basically leaves Mickey and Goofy who can carry the show on their own.

It wasn't very crowded. We had reservations but there were plenty of walk-ups that were getting seated with little to no wait.
