Hi Guys!!

The suspects

Me – AKA - Dad – 41 – The one planning the trip (boy are we in trouble)
Wife – Mom – age unknown (to protect my innocence).
Son age 17
Son age 13
Daughter age 11

We are going to Disney for a week in September and we’ll be staying in Pop Century in 2 rooms. My question for you the experts is, should we keep the PC rooms or trade them in for door number 2 (1 room at the Swan or Dolphin). I think my kids would get a charge out of the whole board walk – epcot thing. I know I would.

Thanks for you help

5 in one Swan room would be tight. The kids would have a better time there due to the availability of activites at the Boardwalk. Watch the renovations work on floor 10 and above though. We stayed at the Boardwalk in between the hurricanes last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We initially did want to stay at boardwalk, but the price was little more than we wanted to pay.
I was looking at expedia today and noticed that the Swan/Dolphin were around $200 a night, which was quite a bit less than Boardwalk. I''m going to call our travel agent and get a quote for Swan/Dolphin.

Brad54- if you go to the Starwood website and join spg (Starwood Preferred Guest program),click on the specials etc. & depending on what time of year you are going, you can do much better than 200/night.

I am staying at the Dolphin for the first time for a few nights in August for 179/night club level (bfast & more little extras). My deal was a book 2 get one free, but they had others such as book 4 get 2 nights free. You also accumulate Starwood points toward upgrades and free nights. I stayed at a Starwood resort in Hawaii for a week and have enough for a free night at the S/D if I wanted it.

I would much rather stay at a deluxe than a value - was it Pop Century?

I always stay at WDW deluxes and just started trying the S/D (Swan 2X already) They are very nice and in an excellent area.

Happy planning -

Never stayed at PC, but have stayed at other value resorts and Dolphin a few time. I also have 5 in my family and was told I had to stay at Dolphin. The max a Swan is 4. I guess the rooms are a very little bit smaller. I am not a big fan of the value resorts. The Dolphin is much better. It is great to be able to walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk. I am sure you would like the Dolphin much better. The only problem is one room instead of two. We fit in one room fine, but my kids are smaller. They have a $99 rate for teachers, nurses, and government workers in September. If you don't qualify for those there is an annual passholder rate and a AAA rate also. Check dreams unlimited on this site for rates. I agree with the starwoods prefered guest program. I belong and get upgraded about half the time. Not sure if it is due to the program, but it can't hurt.

:flower: We have stayed at the Swan the last few visits and loved the hotel. We are staying there again in October. As for the price we are lucky -- employee rate of $69.00 a night!!!!!!! (Thanks Mom). Eight nights for about the price of 2.

Have fun!!!! :cool1:
