PC Beach in winter?

Forgive me if I am posting this on the wrong board--this is the first time that I've posted anything not related to Disney.

So what I wanted to know if anyone here has any experience vacationing at PC Beach during the winter or around New Year's. The DH and I were thinking of a weekend trip over the NY holiday, and the rates at some of the nicer condos in PCB are awfully tempting. I know that the water will probably be way too cool to swim in, but I wondered if there would be other things to do. We have been to PCB 3 times, but all during peak season when everything was open. I just don't want to get there and it be a ghost town. We love eating at Pineapple Willy's, so it would be great if they were open. And I was wondering if there were any kind of fireworks/celebrations?

Are you referring to Panama City Beach in FL?

If so there is someone on the boards(camping mostly...handle is SLTrawick)) who lives there who could probably help you. Ever since the tornados and hurricanes last year I do not know what has been built back up.
