FYI - On Tuesday, November 13, 2001, PBS will air "Growing Up Different."
It is scheduled for broadcast at 9:00 p. m on Channel 2 in Boston. It is
part of the Scientific American Frontiers series hosted by Alan Alda.
Viewers will meet several children who are growing up different, along with
the doctors and researchers who are trying to mitigate the difficulties
they face. The program examines cochlear implants for deaf children, the
latest in augmentative communication technology to provide speech to
children without it, and new insights on the fundamental nature of autism
and the implications for treating autistic children.
This is the local Boston listing but I would guess that all PBS stations
would air this program at some point.
