We are traveling to Universal for the first time in July. It will be my husband, my son (13) and my nephew (12). It is my understanding that the only way to the parks from PBH is by water taxi. Is this terribly inconvenient? How often do they run? How long is the boat ride, etc? I know it will be very busy in July. Do alot of families stay at PBH? I can get PBH for approx. $150 less for the week than HRH, which isn't a great savings if it is alot more inconvenient. Please Help!!!!

I have not stayed at PBH but I have stayed at the HRH, the walk from the Hard Rock is an easy walk and very convenient. We loved the hotel and we were even upgraded to concierge level :cool1: Everyone at the Hard Rock were great. We are trying PBH in April. I know you will have made your decision by then but I will post my thoughts about the two when I return.

I wish we could get more action on the Universal Threads. I am crazy about Universal Hotels and Parks. The FOTL access can not be beat.

We have stayed at PB numerous times and LOVE it!! The walk to the parks is easy- about 10 minutes- we walked it last time with my 79 year old mom walking VERY slowly and made it in less than 15 minutes. The walk to the parks is beautiful. If you decide not to walk all the way you can catch the boat at HRH. They also have the rickshaws if you do not want to walk or take the boat. We found the boats to be very convient and arrived very quickly. I do not think you will be disappointed where ever you stay but we love everything about PB.

What can anyone tell me about PBH? Do alot of families stay there? Is is as convenient as HRH?.......

It is about a 3 or 4 minute walk to the HRH to PB. Everytime we have stayed there we have seen tons of families- it is very family friendly! Everyone that works there is incredible. We have eaten at every resturant there several times and love them all. All three pool are wonderful and all are different. I love the shops there. The club lounge is incredible and the staff is fantastic. Sitting by the bay at night and listening to the opera singers is fun- very relaxing. I could go on and on but I guess you could say we LOVE this place:love: I would live there if I could.

:thumbsup2 Ditto :thumbsup2

We love PBH. We have 3 kids and have always found it very family friendly.

There are also busses if you don't want to do the boats, walk or the pedi-cabs (tips expected for the pedi-cabs). But I find the walk to the bus stop almost as long, if you are in the west wing, as the walk to the HRH, so might as well just walk to the parks :goodvibes

our family loves pbh. not sure what you mean by if it is more inconvenient. it is a five minute walk further that hrh. pbh has three pools. outdoor cafes, outdoor covered bar. bocce ball. and great pizza. cant think of any inconveniences at all.

We've stayed at all three and simply go with whatever is cheapest at the time. All three are very convenient and family friendly. We love Sal's Deli at PBH for their pizzas and Italian quick meals.

I've stayed at all three hotels and like PBH the best. However, we've only stayed there once because it is typically the most expensive. My kids absolutely LOVED the beach pool and dive in movie, more than HRH. Also, I found that HRH was very loud (hallways were loud, slamming doors, lots of noise from the pool at all hours). PBH was quiet and relaxing and we stayed there with our two young sons (5 and 2 at the time).

I would choose PBH over HRH any day of the week.

We're staying at RPR at the end of the month. It was the cheapest. I like this one better than HRH as well.

What time does the shops at the piazza (PBH) close in January? Since parks close early at this time of year (6pm) and I am staying at HRH. I would like to visit the other 2 resorts.
