Hi all,

I didn't see anything about this over here and I thought you would want to know. Over at biddingfortravel.com (in the Hotwire section) Portofino reportedly came up for $136/nt. According to that source, if you search in the Universal Wet & Wild Zone and get an offer for a 5 star it is PBH.

Research it for yourself as I have not used Hotwire before. Another poster in the Disney section also said she got this. They think Hard Rock is coming up too for a lower price. :) :)

Good Luck! I hope somone gets a great rate!

Is PBH the only 5 star hotel in that area? I checked and they have a 5* for 149 for my few days in December.

The only other hotel in that area that could be considered a 5* would be the Peabody.

If you search on Hotwire for your dates in the Universal/Wet & Wild zone and see a 5* listed, check the amenities.

If one of the amenities offered is a Children's Program, the the hotel is almost definately the Portifino.

I say "almost definately" because with Hotwire and especially Priceline, there is always a chance that you could receive another hotel.

Maybe this is common knowledge; I don't know.

I just went to Hotwire.com and checked out the vacation packages. When you do that you don't see the airline info but you DO see the hotel name. I didn't see PBH but HRH was there as a 4.5 star & and RPR as a 4 star. I opened up another browser window and did a search using the same dates but for hotel only (Universal/Wet N' Wild Area). There was no 5 star listed but there was a 4.5 Star and a 4 Star. When I put the two pages side by side the amenities shown for RPR matched the amenities for the 4 star--same for the 4.5 star & HRH.

That's Hotwire's new option. I assume it was created to compete with Priceline's package options. It just "debuted" within the last couple days.

Yes, this works great for the Universal hotels. I was so excited about finally pinning down the Swan/Dolphin for the Buena Vista Zone, but gues what? Swan/Dolphin are the only hotels WITHOUT the amenites list! Arrgh!

As for the Portofino, it comes up only sporadically. I had to check a lot of different dates before I got a 5* to come up. Be careful you are not paying more than Entertainment rates for RPR after you add the fees involved.
