Mom (me) put this trip together at the spur of the moment--2 weeks before arrival. PBH had a deal, I thought, for spring break time, 189 for deluxe for 5 nights APH. Mom and daughter (12) and her friend (12) arrive a day early since expected heavy traffic was nonexistent and so I drove straight through. Originally thought this was a mistake. Have you tied to find a hotel room in Orlando on a Saturday night during spring break time with cheerleaders in town?!? Lucked out and found a cancelled room at Red Horse Inn. Interesting southwestern theme, cool lobby, small room, even smaller bathroom. But, hey, it was a bed to sleep in, and I was grateful after the 12 hour drive. They refurbished an old motel, and the bathroom and sink was entirely re-coated with that electrostatic paint. Would have been fine, if whover had done it had been more careful, there was clumps of what looked to be sand hardened into the coating, very odd.
Got up early and went over to PBH by 8:30 to check in. No one asked to see me AP for the rate, which was good, since I had to go to the park to get it from the kiosk. Clerk said he gave me a great room overlooking beach pool. That's great I dsaid, and we went to the park for the day. We did Universal, and practically walked on everything. The regular lines were about 30-40 minutes, some only about 15. Not horribly crowded. Lots of cheerleaders everywhere. Did Shrek for the first time, loved it! Didn't do too great on MIB, a little rusty. Did most all of the rides by 12:30, and went over to Islands and did a number of them there. Went back to get the room at 4:00. Went to desk, room was not ready. She checked what else was available. I said I had a beach pool view, and she said there were no rooms that were deluxe overlooking beach pool, just villa pool. Strange, did the eralier clerk not know what he was talking about? Ended up with a room overlooking the piazza and the bay. Loved, loved, loved the room. Loved the bathroom. I could not have asked for a better room. Room was wonderfully clean and well-maintained. I felt very much at home. The bed was heaven. The view was wonderful. Great location, fourth floor. I have to say, I was most struck by how quiet it was in the room, especially since they told ne they were sold out. I never heard anything from outside through the window either, and I am sensitive to noise and am a light sleeper. I slept like a rock in that bed and in that room.
Spent the next four days in the parks. They were not terribly busy Monday-Wednesday. Noticeably busier on Thursday. Ride times early in the week were like less than 20 minutes, Thursday we saw more 50-60 minute waits at least. They opened the Mummy up while we were there, and the girls rode it. They enjoyed it, but they liked other rides better. Don't know why they weren't blown away. Mom is a wuss, and cannot do coaster type rides. So I cannot give an opinion. Most of the time we just walked on rides, love that FOTL.
We also did the pool everyday in the mornings. Never very crowded. Love the slide. I like it better than HRH. That pool is more crowded and noisier. I like the slide at PBH better too. It seems faster? Stayed at HRH last year, and I have to say that overall, PBH I like much better. It is more my style and pace. Great for couples too. Can be very romantic. Wished my husband was with me. Caleed him from the pool on Monday to try and talk him in to dropping everything and fly down, to no avail.
Service at the hotel was wonderful. Housekeeping came at my requested time every day without fail. Everyone was very friendly in the hallways. Concierge was helpful in showing me how to get to different places. We went to Mall of Millenia, and to the designer outlets, as well as to Super Target for stuff for the room (cereal, milk, drinks, etc. to keep in a cooler).
All in alll loved our stay at PBH. Can't wait to go back and get my husband and other daughter there too. It was a perfect vacation with a perfect hotel and perfect weather. Couldn't have asked for more.
