PBH just back

Hi - Just back from 5 night stay at PBH. A beautiful hotel - but wouldn't call it 4 star. When we got back from our 1st day at the parks - was HOT and steamy. Looking forward to our beautiful room with AC - lo and behold - it was almost 80 F. in our room! Turned the AC as low as I could but still went down only 4-5 degrees. Called the front desk - who sent up a house maintance. He informed us that the room had a special sensor that turned off the AC when no one was in the room. ALso they close the vents - which he then kindly opened for us. I was surprised to find the housekeeping was terrible!! Many times came back in the late pm and room wasn't done yet. Had turndown only once out of the 5 nights. The housekeeping supervisor informed us that the maid had 14 - 16 rooms to do, and trouble keeping up with all of them. I've had way better experience at WDW. Portafino was lovely, but little things like the above add up. Tho the FOTL made it ALL worthwhile. Just spoiled you. As in WDW - MANY tour groups - flags and all. And they ALL had express tickets. WHen you get 40 or 50 in front of you in line - slows things up ). still.... FOL is heaven!!!

I loved the turn-down service, which included chocolates for each of us, the lights were left on dim over our beds so that we didn't come into a dark room. I have only stayed at 2 deluxe hotels at Disney (Polynesian and AKL) and even though we loved them, we did not experience the same level of luxury that we had at Portofino--we certainly did not have turn-down and chocolates!!

I also just returned from PBH, we received excellent maid service with turndown & chocolates. Our room stayed cool also. NO PROBLEMS! I love it there. I'm sure there are all kinds of experiences, when is the last time you stayed at a WDW deluxe? We stayed at the YC in Feb. there wasn't any service, no turndown, asked for extra towels, had to call three times for them, our blow dryer didn't work, had to call twice for another. I would still stay at the YC, I just think with all the cut backs both WDW & USF will suffer as we will.

Sorry to hear you had problems. Luckily, but unfortunately, I think you're in the minority--though I can relate to how you feel. Once we had a bad experience at a resort in Toronto, ON, and we have never returned there. Though I know our bad experience was somewhat isolated, it still leaves a bitter feeling. Someday we will go back there -- just not right away!

That's terrible things went like that for you. We've been 3 times and have always had good experiences with housekeeping.
