Hi All - we just booked a Portifino suite for March 1 -5. We have stayed several times at HRH and RPR and love them both for different reasons. I have never had the urge to stay at PBH, but this time it was the only place that we could get a suite, and we really need the space with kids - 9 and 11.

I guess my real reason for not booking this hotel, is the distance from the parks. I HATE waiting for the boat. I really am planning to walk, I hope it is possible. We are pretty active, athletic people, and I don't think the heat will be too bad this time of year. What is the walking time?

Can you all help me get excited about this resort? Any info is appreciated as I know nothing - rooms, restaurants, good and bad - I like to be prepared. I know they will love pool, they love the slide at HRH.

Any info is MUCH appreciated!!!

There's much to be excited about.

The walk from the boat dock of the PBH to USF is 13 minutes. It's 8 minutes to the HRH and 5 to USF. It's nice to walk over early in the morning, then take the boat ride back when your feet are tired. The boat ride is faster than walking. If you get tired along the way, you can always stop at the HRH pool bar and grab a drink to go. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see pictures of the walking path.

You'll most likely be in the west wing, and the walk to/from the pool is short.

They have opera singers at night on the balcony. They shine spot lights up at them.

The slide at the PBH pool is just as fun as the HRH.

Restaurants are ok, some of them close early so check the hours and plan to have an early dinner. Otherwise take the boat over to CityWalk.

There is also a bus you can wait for!!! I don't think it is much more fun than waiting for the boat but it does drop you off closer to US.

Thanks! I loved your trip report. The pictures of the walking path were helpful, but I really loved the pictures of Destiny - what a cutie. It makes me feel guilty that I have to leave my baby in the kennel, while we are gone.

The walk is definately doable too!

I like the PBH the best because of room size,(although you mentioned a suite)the hotel never seems crowded, and has a laid back atmosphere. As stated above, the mourning walk is great but the late at night walk is long.Does anyone know if they still have the guys with their rick-shaws giving rides at night?
:cool1:

Oh Goody! I can finally say "Stay out of the west wing - I'ts FORBIDDEN!"
in my beast voice. You don't know how long I have waited to say that!:woohoo:

The quiet atmosphere at the Portofino is worth any extra wait. You really are transported out of the theme park mindset when your boat rounds the corner.

I wish I could send you a pic of my angel---he looked just like your pooch. Mine was a shep mix from the pound--shep color with lab ears. The real similarity---the eyes---those wonderful, beautiful eyes that look like they see into your soul and love you anyway.

Enjoy the PBH----it is beautiful too.

Thanks, I am really getting excited now. Two more days! The hardest part is leaving the dogs. I know what you mean about the eyes. We lost our 10 year old sheapard in April, and we were convinced we could never have another one, we loved her so much. But we saw this guy, and that was it. He is a real lover, and really helped us get over our loss.

i just returned from a long weekend at pbh and i dont have anything to compare it to, but it was a beautiful and relaxing hotel. we walked to the parks often and it was a pleasant walk, both ways. the pizza pool side at splendido was a great pizza. they have bocce ball courts next to the villa pool, with rules, that we played a couple of times. you will love this hotel.
