I haven't used Paypal to pay an individual - only a company. I don't know how much difference this makes, but it was all very painless in my limited experience!
I recently rented out some points for which I was paid via Paypal. I agree with Hilary that it was very easy indeed and I would say it is probably the best way for you to send a payment to someone in the US.
I'm not sure about their charges though - I haven't appeared to have had any. Their exchange rate is pretty terrible - I've still got my payment sitting in my Paypal account. I'm not transferring it to my bank yet, while I wait to see whether the exchange rate goes down again! Must be about the only person on this board wishing for that!!
Have you read all the FAQs on the Paypal site - it's probably a good place to start.
Thanks for the replies. I've looked on their site but I wanted views from someone with first hand knowledge.I have no plans to use it in the near future but it may be an option further down the line.
Thanks again....
