Paypal question - Transferring US$

For those of you who have a Paypal account with US$, I was wondering what the best way was to get that money out.

Should I open a US$ account with my bank and have the funds transferred that way? I don't really want to transfer it into my Canadian account because I want to put it towards my next vacation. I see the Paypal debit/credit cards aren't available to Canadians.

I have a paypal/debit atm card and use it that way to pay Disney and buy my tickets and so on. They will not transfer to a USD account it must be a canadian account which is silly IMO, they BURN you on their conversion fees.. I also use my card and withdraw my funds when I go to the states and it takes out US money that way. I think that is the best way honestly if you are going over take the money that way. You can get the card once you have had your account for 90 days

I tried to set it up so that my Paypal money was transferred to a US$ account I opened at my bank. I was told that this is not possible so, the money has to go to myregular main CAN$ account.(not sure if this applies to all banks or if its a requirement from the Paypal end)

My DF use to have one of these but he forgot to reactivate the new card after his old one expired. I loved it as well - great for shopping! I checked the Paypal site and it seems they are no longer offering it for Canadians

Maybe I'll see if I can send the money to a friend in the US and have him give me to cash. Seems kind of silly for me to transfer the US into Canadian and then back into US again.

ok, I just looked up their user agreement and it says

Non-U.S. and U.S. Territory Availability: The PayPal ATM/Debit Card is available only to U.S. members with an address in the 50 states, and select Canadian users. Over time, PayPal intends to make cards available to select users residing outside the U.S. or in U.S. territories.

I think you may be able to still get it, have you had the business account for 90 days? if so click on my account, then products & Services on the top tab then PayPal Debit Card Get cash from your PayPal account. link and see what it says... you can always call them I have the number on the back of my card if you want that... they are actually helpful on the phone.

Oh you know what? I don't have a business account I guess that would explain a few things - I was clicking on a link for more information about the Paypal Debit Card and it would just go back to my account page. Ok, I'll go back and look at what I need to do to upgrade my account.

Inquire at the Royal Bank and open a RBC Centura account. Available to anyone, this is a US dollar account tied to their branches located in the US. You can link your Paypal account to this and withdraw the US funds directly from Paypal to Centura without conversion fees.
