Hi all, thought I would come to the experts. My dd dabbles in selling on ebay, but she mostly buys ;) Well she sold an intem on Dec 17, the seller paid immed via paypal, dd promptly shipped and positive feedback was left from both parties. Now her paypal acct has a temporary hold on this transaction. It states "you may be the recieptiant of unauthorized funds" etc. She went to the transaction and now the buyer has 12 negs, and has made her f/b private. Anyone ever have this happen?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I've not suggestions about the hold on the account but I do advise you immediately block that buyer from ever buying from her again.

I wish her all the luck in the world. This happened to me on January 3 for something I sold on December 5. I sent Paypal all the information they requested. I did everything Paypal tells you to do in order to be protected by their Seller's Protection Policy, but they still took the money. I'm afraid that Paypal can pretty much do as they feel and there is nothing you can do about it. I keep e-mailing them for an explanation, but they won't answer me. Tell her to supply all the information they request and then hope for the best.

Good Luck.

Pam

If this helps any at all, Pay Pal telephone nos. are:

402-935-7733

888-887-1161

Be sure to have all of your information available to tell them, when you get them on the phone. Some of the reps. are very helpful

Paypal is doing this more and more lately all you have to do is read the ebay paypal discussion boards to see it. They dont have to tell you anything for "privacy" issues which also makes it harder for you to defend yourself.

They will want proof the item was mailed AND delivered AND to a confirmed address AND the transaction will have had to say Eligible for protection before they will even consider releasing the funds. I have heard of people doing all this and still not receiving their funds back with no explanation. They also supposedly have 180 days to do it

Paypal is becoming a necessary evil for sellers on ebay. Buyers are brainwashed that its the only safe way to pay so if sellers want to sell items they pretty much need to offer it. The only thing you can do is protect yourself as much as you can and that means do everything exactly by the book.

No shipping to unconfirmed addresses, making sure to use a confirmation and a signature confirmation if over $250, and realize that pretty much all international transactions are exempt from coverage due to the expense of getting online tracking to go there (and only some addresses in Canada and the UK are able to be confirmed)

I hope your daughter gets her money back..it may take a while but I hope she is able to provide everything they want

I had this happen twice over the holidays. Once I could not find my delivery confirmation and lost the $, luckily it was only $26.00. The other time I did send Paypal my d/c # and was credited back the $, but it took like 4 weeks.

I am so upset with paypal as a seller. A few months ago I sold A Gap peacoat for $46.00. I shipped it the day after it was paid for. A few weeks later I emailed the buyer to make sure she got it and I never got a response. So I just assumed everything was okay. I spent the $46.00.Almost a month later I receive an email from paypal stating the buyer did not receive the coat and wants her money back. Paypal said I must give a DC# or refund money.I no longer had the PO receipt. And I also spent the $46.00. Paypal put a hold on my account until I paid her back. The buyer has done this before according to her feedbacks.I on the other had had 100% + feedback.I just think paypal has become unfair to sellers.

YES, Alison - that is really upsetting. For about 2 years now I put DC on EACH AND EVERY ONE of my packages. Not always insurance on my own, tho. The extra .45 cents or so has save me many headaches. I used to have buyers all the time say they didn't receive their package. Not any longer - I have the DC to prove that it was received.

There are so many crooked people out there, no doubt they will find a way around that some day in the future. But hopefully NOT.

You must always keep your PO receipts also - even when something is received. I usually keep 6 - 8 months on hand and then I go through them and discard them from time to time.

We are also have alot of problem with Ebay and Paypal. We can not find out any information from them even if we try with the "Live Chat".No one knows anything. We know of several people that are having the same problems and no one can get anywhere.Does anyone know the fax number for Ebay? If so,please let me know even if you must PM me.Thanks for posting the phone numbers but we still would love to have the fax number.Lets hope everyone gets things cleared up soon.

Sad but it's not a seller / buyer thing it's a honest / crooked thing.

I got burned as well as many as 7 others right now by someone still using both account after the dates still answering e-mails for over $500 camera kits .He's telling some Wifes in coma and told me ( after threat of AG and Post Master) That his account was hi-jacked .So I quickly did Item Not Recieved with his E-Mail to me about account .Paypal has his response as e-mail set with tracking info ( from Paypals auto shipping e-mail) .Now I can still go to CC for money but I shouldn't either he should be responsible or Paypal to get my camera or get my total monies back. And it shouldn't take weeks to do this.
