Payments on US Visa??

I have a BMO US Visa for our upcoming trip- the nearest BMO is about 25 minutes away from me. Can I mail a payment with a cheque that says "US Dollars" or do I have to go to bank in person to pay with US cash? TIA, Jen

A US credit card has to be payed with US funds.
You might want to open a US bank account at BMO so you can make payments online.
Call the bank to get the info.

I learned the hard way how difficult it is to pay this card off. I have a USD account, but through CIBC. I thought it was no problem paying it off with that account. I took the bill to CIBC and tried to pay it off using that account, but they said that they don't do payments for that credit card, and that I would actually have to get a bank draft to take to BMO to pay it off. No thanks - that's like a $6 charge each time I want to make a payment! Instead, what I had to do was open up a USD account at BMO - but wait! It doesn't stop there. To put money into that account, I had to have an active BMO Canadian Dollar account to transfer money into the USD account. So, to pay the BMO M/C, I have to put money into my BMO savings account, transfer that money into my USD account, which will then allow me to make the payment onto my M/C. What a pain! Wish I would have known sooner, but lesson learned!

I too have a CIBC US account and BMO US credit card.
I paid off my card, no problem.

I just withdrew the US funds from CIBC, to pay the card at BMO in person. No big deal .Two trips, but not a big deal. It's not like I'm paying on the card every month. If that was the case, that would be alot of effort.
Both banks are close, and it definatley was a savings for us.
