Payment to Virgin Holidays

I know I'm probably worrying about nothing, but would feel a whole lot better if someone could tell me so:worried:

My balance was due on 1st May, but as I like to keep track of the pennies I chose to send a cheque to cover it mid April. I received an email of the invoice from Virgin Holidays on 25.4.13 stating 'amount paid - received with thanks, balance 0.00.' To say I was a happy bunny was an understatement as it was finally paid.

Today I've received an email from Virgin saying 'We must receive your payment in full by the due date. Please be aware that failure to do so will result in your booking being cancelled at the appropriate charges.'

I have checked my bank account and the money is still there. I tried to phone Virgin, but they have left for the evening.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? - I've been with Virgin 5 times previously without any such problem.

It's so frustrating that I can't speak to anyone there tonight to sort it out.

First of all, they won't cancel your booking on the day payment is due because glitches do happen. At worst, it's going to be 7 days before they take any action, if any at all at this early stage.

You will have to give them a call in the morning and try not to worry about it tonight. It sounds like they might have received your cheque and then for some reason it didn't get processed (?) Whatever it is, you'll need to speak to someone at VH to find out what happened

If you've received an email saying the amount has been paid then you'll be fine, have you still got the email? because thats proof. Also it can take quite a few days for a cheque to clear.A lot of times these emails they send out are computer generated:)

Yes I've got the email and I also printed a copy out.

Thanks, I do feel a little better now. :grouphug:

Just makes me so cross that I've paid early and they can't get their act together. Another example of poor Virgin customer service I guess

it would take a minimum of 3 working days for the cheque to come out of your account, unless you both happen to bank in the same branch! So the fact that they emailed you last Thursday I wouldn't worry about it at all. They might not have paid it in for a few days or at all yet, so it wouldn't be showing yet.:) Also as it wouldn't be cleared funds to them it would possibly still show as a balance on their accounts.

As PP have said I wouldn't worry as you've got written proof i.e email and the banks do like to "play" with our money hence the reason a cheque takes at least 3 days to clear. I know you can't talk to anyone at VH before the morning but have you tried posting something on their facebook page. They normally have someone monitoring that 24/7

Trying to get through but large volume of calls etc etc. So have taken your advice and posted on FB page as I've also had no joy from the several emails I fired off to various depts. last night!!!!

Thanks

Finally got through after a very long wait. The woman I spoke to was no wiser as to why I had been sent the email as my account is shown as paid in full.

Thanks to everyone for their reassurance and advice whilst I was having a mini meltdown.

:disrocks:

I think that sometimes the 'system' does not recognise that an invoice has been paid and it automatically churns out a letter at the date that your final invoice was due. One part of the buiness does not talk to the other and you nearly have a heart attack. Holiday paid. Happy days!

It's probably just a cross over period, but just to be certain (because I'm a worry wort and with the money still in your account I would be stressing!) I would just call them and say I made the payment which was confirmed, can you check that everything is paid and has gone through OK. If it hasn't, fax them the email and stuff so they can chase it up on their end.
