Apparently my non-existent McAfee anti-virus subscription has been blocked because the payment I never made was declined.

For the 4th time today. For about the 100th time this month.

Plus three or four other things I don’t subscribe to have blocked me, terminated my service, or otherwise “threatened” me with dire consequences if I don’t open the e-mail, click the spam link, and follow demands immediately.

Too funny. I also sometimes get these 'urgent' sounding texts for some service I have NEVER subscribed to. Are some people that gullible to actually click on that nonsense? A few also claim to be from FedEx and need me to respond since they are having trouble delivering some item (when I have nothing currently on order).........LOL. I have yet to find ANY legit company who communicates that way so I just delete/block their number when that nonsense shows up.

Legit companies will more likely send you a 'reminder' email if you are behind in payment. Threatening sounding text messages as the first point of contact are probably spam. My favorite are the ones with bad grammar/syntax that were clearly written by someone who isn't fluent in English.

Anything I buy online that requires a phone #, I give them my landline/housephone instead. Obviously, those don't accept text messages so one less way to send me their garbage.

I got the DMV is cancelling my license message three times this week for my violations.
It looks so real that I worry about my elderly mom and mother-in-law clicking on such things and constantly reminding them to delete.

I'm being blackmailed with threats to release the details on the "adult websites" and videos they captured of me while visiting said websites. They have infiltrated my phone and will release the videos if I tell the police. Thankfully once I pay them the $2000 I won't have to worry about them releasing the videos later because they would have no need to.

Count me in for the cancellation party!

But the scary thing is that there are MANY people who will click links, pay fees, call the number, etc. My mom fell victim to this and it was tough fixing it.

I've been warned for months now that my pictures and videos are going to be deleted due to non payment. I wish they'd just get to it because the daily email is getting old.
Yeah, that’s another one I get frequently. About a dozen times over a week or so, then it stops for a while, and resumes again.

Oh yes, I'm in that club of things I've never subscribed to are being canceled for payment declined, etc. Even our home warranty through our credit union told us that....we don't have a home warranty and our mortgage isn't through our credit union.

I don't even open those emails, so you all have got more time invested in these scams than I do. And I don't give out my cell phone number, so any texts HAVE to be a scam.

Do you still need that $5,000 to come here and give me 5 million dollars from your royal treasury?

Yes

i've seen a big uptick in these over the past 6 months esp. pertaining to medical provider/insurance and health related scams. I attribute it to my upcoming 65th birthday. I've been on Medicare for years already so I already get inundated around open enrollment with supposed communications from the federal government, Medicare and social security but since my personal date reflects that i'm approaching the most common age to qualify the emails and texts are in hyper-overdrive.

My favorite are the ones with bad grammar/syntax that were clearly written by someone who isn't fluent in English.

I've read that the poor grammar/syntax ones are in some cases purposely created as a means of phishing b/c if someone is inattentive enough to buy into the initial scam it shows the scammer that there's the potential for greater scamming and those respondants are funneled into higher dollar scammer 'call lists'.

I keep getting my "final warning" about my "expired anti-virus software". With the first two, i was relived it was a FINAL warning so i would not be bothered anymore. That was three weeks and three emails a day already. I am starting to not take the warning seriously.

I've gotten calls that there is a problem with my Medicare coverage - and I'm not even 50! 🤣

LOL I have gotten several of those this week as well.

our household immediately reccognizes a scam when it's addressed to dh or my kids using the hyphenated version of my last name that I used professionally years ago. it's even more clear when they flip flop the 2 last names so dh and the kids end up with stuff using my maiden name as their last name:crazy:
