Are there any recent reviews of Payless Car? I reserved a midsize car for 9 days starting on September 25 for $143. The rate is even cheaper than Advantage. Does anyone have any feedback on Payless? I realize it is offsite and I am okay with that.

I've never rented from Payless but I park there all the time at Payless Parking and use the same shuttles to and from the airport. The shuttles are frequent and friendly; it's traditional to slip the driver $1-2 dollars if he handles your luggage. Not familiar about how much they pressure you to buy their collision damage waiver or liability waiver. Make sure you have your insurance card with you to prove you have an active auto liability policy and collision coverage. A few firm "no thank you" responses should be all you need.

I have rented from them 3 or 5 times. friendly staff, often the cheapest rental prices. Only had one issue but it was my flaut, someone hit my rental car in the Disney Parking lot, causing me to pay $900 in dent repairs, because I did not sign up for the rental insurance, which i think was $25 a day which would have only cost me about $150 for my trip.

Please Note: while most other rental car companies, vacuum and car wash their cars after every use, Payless would however do a quick vacuum and hand wash of thier cars 90% of the time. Every so often you may get a car with a little trash inside or dirty windows. But if you tell them they would often take it off your bill or have someone clean it.

But I would still rent again from them, if I can't find anything cheaper.

We rented there twice and will never again! The first time the car was terriable. The antenna was falling off, the doors were hard to open and close and manual locks, and the power steering needed to be fixed. We decided to give them one more shot becuase we thought it was just a fluke. It was the worst experience we've ever had with a car company. We booked the reservation using my credit card, which we had done before and DH was just going to change it to his once we got there...same as before. When we got there they gave us a really hard time about it. We explained to them that we had done the exact same thing last time we had booked with them. Not even 8 months prior to this visit. DH wanted to use his Debit card which was the exact same card he used before and the woman made such a stink about it she actually started yelling at him. At this point I had to walk away becuase I was so mad. I didnt understand why it was ok to do it once but not ok to do it this time. So we asked to speak to a manager and ofcourse she was it. Once we got everything squared away we waited for our car....and waited....and waited it was atleast an hour we waited for our car to be brought out front. Which was fun to watch everyone else get their cars that checked in after us but not us. They couldnt find the keys, and then they couldnt figure out which car it was. It was terriable. The shuttle to and from the airport stunk, didnt have any AC and took 45 minutes to pick us up. The driver was just as rude as the counter service was. I will NEVER rent from them again nor will I ever bother to go off terminal again. With the rates that you can get through Priceline for Alamo, Avis, National and Hertz you cant go wrong and Hertz is the only one off terminal and their shuttle is always there! I hope you will have a better experiece then we did!:confused3

This happens with any brand of rental.

Maybe all you did was forget to accept the collision coverage but in general you should not rent a car without some form of collision coverage, either (a) your own car insurance you are sure covers rentals or (b) your credit card or (c)the rental company's CDW or whatever it is called.

Payless' shuttle starts you on the way to Disney provided the whole family comes along with the luggage. Out the north airport exit and left at first light (Frontage) and their office is a little ways down on the right.

Leaving Payless' lot with your rental, turn right instead of their suggested left. Less than a mile go left at the light (Conway Rd.) and immediately another left (at a light) (Beach Line; Rte 528 cloverleaf west). Watch for toll lanes that take cash if you don't have a Florida toll transponder (they don't take EZ-Pass). At end, bear left to get on I-4 West.

To retrace your steps back, leave Disney and take I-4 and then I-4 East ramp. Then get onto 528 east. Get off 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under, get into middle lane. Required right onto McCoy (becomes Frontage Rd.). Payless is on the left. (Those with other brands of rentals would keep going to the light at Rte. 436 (Semoran) and turn right to enter the airport from the north.)
