I just booked a car through Payless car rental out of the Orlando airport. Have any of you used them before? I've been using Dollar, but Payless is much cheaper. I don't like the fact that Payless is off-airport, but for the price difference I thought that I'd try it. Looking for some feedback on how it went for anyone that's used them before.

We used them on our trip down there in 2006. Like you, we were rather nervous- never hearing of them before, and being offsite. We were more than happy w/ our experience. The shuttle was prompt, and took us right to the facility (lots of even big brand car rentals are off site, and have to use shuttle service). The check in process was quick and easy, the waiting area was clean, and had Disney movies playing. No problems at all. We were quite happy, and I actually now look to see if they have a location in various cities we travel to, prior to looking at other sites to get competitor pricing.

Used Payless numerous times with no problems.

When their shuttle gets you to their office (north airport exit, left at first light), a few miles have been shaved off of your trip to Disney. Leaving their lot take a right instead of their suggested left. Less than a mile is next light, take two quick lefts to get on Toll 528 (Beach Line). One 75 cent toll, then you get to I-4. Go west (southwest).

Returning the car taking I-4 east to 528 east, get off 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under. Nice cheap gas station on your left. Get into middle lane. Required right (east) onto McCoy and Payless is on the left a little less than a mile. (For most other rentals less than a mile to next light (Semoran; 436), right for airport, left for Hertz/Thrifty.

Be very careful driving around their office both in and out. If you go into the wrong driveway you will get flat tires.

Payless, EZ, L&M, and a few others reserve the right not to rent to you if you don't have collision insurance on a car of your own back at home and you decline theirs.
