Paying with your Magic Band question

I usually attach a card to pay in the parks with MY magic band but do not turn of the tap/pay for my kids bands. My question is: can I buy a gift card for say $100 and load that onto a MagicBand as payment for each kid? I want them to practice budgeting themselves but not using my credit card!

You cannot preload a magic band....you can charge with the band and pay it off at the hotel with a gift card....If you really want them to budget it, you could just get gift cards for each of them, label with a Sharpie, so they do the math.

There is nothing "on" a magic band, so no you can't load money on them. They are simply a link to your MDE account, which you also cannot attach a gift card to as your form of payment.

Paying with a MagicBand does not charge a credit card or deduct from a gift card. It actually places a charge on your room folio. As others have said above, you can allow your kids to charge to the room by paying with their bands, and then go to the desk at the hotel to pay down the balance with gift cards. But if you think they can keep up with a gift card, it might be better to just give them the gift cards and have them pay directly with the gift card.
