Paying vacation package with gift cards?

I have a few quick questions -- My mom and I (including my daughter) are going to WDW again in September 2015. Currently we have 1/3 of our package paid off using a CC. That payment will be paid off at once. Ideally, I would like to use gift cards instead of my debit card for security reasons. Does Disney limit the amount of gift cards you use?

We may rent DVC if it's available when our time frame opens up, however that isn't until February. If we do cancel our current package and go with the DVC how does Disney refund on a gift card?

Thanks for helping me out!

You may use as many gift cards as you like; there is no limit.
If the monies need to be refunded, they will be applied back to the gift cards they came from.
So you need to save all of the gift cards you use for your payments.

If you call to apply GC have them rubbed off entirely and ready to give them the codes one after the other. The system will time out if you need to scratch off.

A DVC owner or a broker like David's will not accept Disney GCs as a form of payment, so if you're interested in renting DVC for next September, you will need to go the way of a CC or PayPal. DVC is very popular during Sept. and Oct. due to low point requirements and the F&W Festival. You really should be looking into renting NOW for next fall if you have specific resorts like BWV, BCV, BLT or VGF. They're typically high-demand resorts and are especially tough to get during F&W. Owners at those resorts can already book villas for arrivals through Sept. 20.

We are going through a broker but it isn't David's. When I placed a request for a quote I was told we couldn't book till February. Our travel dates are 9/17-9/25. We'll see what we end up with. If it falls through, we already have a reservation at another resort.

And for the remainder of the balance I will be sure to hold on to the gift cards.

Refunds from a gift card payment would go back to the individual gift card. Since payment is required 45 days in advance for a package, I'd wait to apply any gift cards.

Late February would be the 7-month window. That's when DVC members can book reservations at the resorts that they do not own at. So right now, only a DVC member who owns at BCV can book BCV reservations for late May - mid Sept. Any DVC member who owns at another resort would have to wait until 7 months (Feb 17, 2015 in your case) before they want to vacation in order to book BCV. The problem, as I already stated, is that the MK area and Epcot area resorts are in high demand most of the year, but are especially popular in the fall. That makes it difficult for non-owners to book a villa for those dates.

If you're looking for AKV you would probably be fine at 7 months before arrival, unless you want to book AKV concierge or AKV value rooms (because they're always booked up at the 11-month window). You would probably also have no problems booking SSR or OKW since both of those resorts are very large and less likely to book up completely. The broker you are using may not have an owner lined up with enough points or the resort you want as their home resort, which is why they told you that you have to wait until February.
