Paying vacation balance with cash?

Hi! Does anybody know how this works?! We're booking a cruise and will be borrowing points... because we'll be short about 60 points, we're expecting to pay the balance in cash. We'd love to sound sorta like we know what we're talking about when we call DVC for this one.

It doesn't quite work like that - you can't just make up the 60 point deficit by paying cash. FWIW, MS may let you borrow more than one year ahead for the cruise. Not sure when/how that works, though.

If you don't have enough points , you may pay points for at least one person (per cabin reserved) and then pay the cash price for the other people in your party. You can't mix points and cash for the same person - each must be paid for with all points or all cash.

DVC has negotiated a cash price with DCL. At the time you book, the cash price could be more or less than the cash price available through a Travel Agent or DCL itself. I don't know what the cash price is - it probably varies by cruise. MS will know.

What Carol said is right. Another recommendation... go to the rental board and rent 60 points in a transfer. You get one transfer either in or out per year, so you can put the 60 in you account for around $600 to $660 (based on $10-11 pp which seems to be the current).
