I apologize if this is in the wrong area...feel free to tell me or move me! My dilemma....my 45 day mark is today. I just called and made a partial payment toward the balance and explained that I would be able to finish paying the remainder within a week or two...no later than our 30 day mark. We, unfortunately, ran into some unexpected expenses...so this is the reason for not being able to pay the balance today. I did want to make a good faith effort to pay something today, however. I was told by the agent I spoke with that the reservation would probably be canceled since I could not pay the entire balance today. This was a less than magical call for me!!! The agent did not seem friendly at all, and in fact had a harsh tone. I went ahead and paid the amount I had intended anyway. I'm hoping that I will get an email saying I have until such and such to pay it or they will cancel the reservation. Has anyone else ever had to pay the balance late? I need someone to reassure me that as long as I have it paid off by my 30 day mark, I will be fine! Ughhhhh....I'm stressing.

I would call again and give them a date that you can pay by. From working with Disney in the past, they will usually have soem sort of grace period.

Marriedtodonald - i just recently went through the same thing. Our trip is June 6. The CM i initially spoke to was very rude and could have cared less. I tried to explain that i would pay the reminder within 2 weeks but all i kept getting was your reservation will more than likely be canceled but she took my partial payment anyway. I called back to another cm and he was fantastic. here is what we did. I had a 8 night ressie at Pop Century with 7 day park hopper. We reduced my park tickets to 4 day basic tickets which brought my package down to where - what we had already paid - which made the pacakge paid in full. Once i had the money to finish paying the package off i called back upgraded my tickets back to a 7 day park hopper and just paid the difference. There was no additional fees for "upgrading" our package. I wish i could remember the CM name cause he figured it all out for us. So we will be off in 13 days. Hope this helps.

Oh, now THIS is a good idea! OP - do you have the dining plan and/or multiple day tickets on your reservation? Have the dining plan taken off and/or reduce your tickets down to 1 or 2 days. This may be enough that what you already HAVE paid will pay your reservation in full. Once you can pay the balance, call Disney back up, have them add the DP back on, upgrade your tickets and then pay the new balance off. I wouldn't let it get less than 30 days out though as I think there are fees charged even if you upgrade at that point.

You should have until 30 days out. I'd call and confirm but I know that there was a hiccup with my final payment and I got an email saying "Your payment was due yesterday, if it is not paid by 30 days out before your vacation, your trip will be cancelled" (I'm paraphrasing from memory).

Thanks, littlemermaidariel12!!! That was great advice! I just got off of the phone with a very nice young man! I explained the situation to him and he suggested exactly what you said to do! I've called for this specific topic 4 times, making this the 5th time. He was the first and only cm to suggest taking the dining plan off temporarily and knocking our tickets down. So, the magic has been brought back into our reservations! I am stress free:woohoo: (at least where Disney is concerned, anyway!) I'll just call back in 2 weeks when I have the money to upgrade the tickets and add the dining plan back on. Thank you to everyone who responded! This is why I love the DISBoards! :worship:
