Paying rack rate, ugh

I have run many dates and I still find rooms under the up to 30% off, but since the offer has been on for over a month, you would have to be more flexible with resorts now. I first looked back on the 5th or 6th and every resort I looked at had openings.

Besides the OP booked the room way back in April, when the FD offer was first released months ago for that time period, he/she could have switched to it. It was available until the end of July. Once August rolled around a new offer came up. He/she was no longer eligible for the free dining because of the start date of the reservation, but could have qualified for the %off on the nights from the 29th on. I don't get it. If the OP booked so long ago and has been looking for deals, why didn't he/she jump on either of the two deals that were released since then?

Were you on these boards when the discounts came out Aug. 1st? It was anything but "jumping" on a deal. People were on hold for hours and there was much less availabilty than anyone was expecting. Only so many rooms were available for the discounts. Just because a room is showing availabilty, for example, doesn't mean it was a room that was part of FD.
Rooms did open up a few weeks later, but from what I've read on here, people who got things were "stalking" :-) reservations to get them.

I just ran your dates and if you want to switch pack to POR there is a standard room available with 20% discount for $192 a night. Sounds like you got a great deal with wilderness lodge though. Hope you have a great time.

Are you sure that is a 20% discount? Did you run it through the specials link and through the regular link? That sounds high for a standard room if that is with a 20% discount. Plus, like I said in the other link PORiverside is only 5%.

The discount at POR is only 5%. The general description of fall discounts lists it as you did above. However, there are exceptions to that...POR is an exception to that, and only has a 5% discount. To top it off, if you booked prior to the tix increase this summer, it will actually cost you more bc the increase cost of tix if higher than the 5% discount. I know this for a fact bc I had it booked through Disney. I called when fall discounts came out and was told I was "one of those strange situations" where it would cost us more. Go to the Disney website and check their specials. It says "SELECT Disney resorts....20% off", then if you click on that you will see POR is NOT listed. Port Orleans - French Quarter is.

That makes sense. Even though I clicked through the room only promotion on Disney's site, I saw no discount at all when I ran the room only numbers and that's probably because of the rate increases. So I'm happy with our decision to be at WL.

You're going to love WL! We stayed there in Dec. 2011. The boat to MK is awesome! Plus, you can take the boat to the contemporary and get on the monorail. It looks like you're going mid-November? You can go to the campground for a super holiday sing along with Chip and Dale or do a sleigh ride around the campground to see the decorations on the campsites. Nice way to have fun while taking a quiet, relaxing break from parks. We also took monorail to each of those resorts to check out their decorations....inc. real gingerbread house in GF lobby. Also, if you have a balcony, you might be able to see the electric water pageant from your balcony. So....you'll have a blast! (We chose POR this time....as we did in Oct. 2010....bc we wanted to do a Royal Room for our 7 year old DD.)

One year I got a discount about 21 days before a Poly trip, and it was a good one. I had been resigned to paying full price. So keep watching, you never know.

Thanks for info!!! I will keep that in mind these next few days. :)

FWIW, Travelocity has 10% off every Disney resort (didn't check as to which rooms/views at each), using code 10SUMMER at check out. Not huge, but something.

POFQ all views/types, and POR all except standard (non-Royal) and Royal garden seem to be available for your dates of Oct 27 to Nov 1.

HTH, at least for future reference!
