Paying Maintenance Fees

I'm looking at a resale that is an August UY, with full '07 points coming in Aug. I understand that Maint fees for '07 points are due at closing. When are '08 fees due? I'm hearing that DVC bills all members in Jan regardless of UY? And that members can choose to pay fees monthly. Does this mean '08 fees are due in full in Jan '08? Or can you begin paying monthly in Jan and pay thru 2008 for 2008 fees.

You can opt to have your mainenance fees done monthly, and that would start with the January date, since you will be prepaying your '07 fees at closing.

Still learning here. Wasn't the '07 fees already paid to DVC by the seller since they're due in January? Are you paying the seller back?

After your sale, you will need to call accounting to set up monthly dues payments beginning with Jan 08. Be aware that you must allow automatic withdrawal from a bank account to pay monthly.

If you pay your dues in full in January, you can pay by credit card and get reward dollars or whatever. On the other hand, if you pay monthly by automatic debit, you get to spread the payments out over the year and you do not pay any extra fees for the privilege! You can also sign up for the monthly option but at any point can pay off the remainder with a credit card.
