Paying it forward..... and spreading some Magic!!!

Man, you guys are awesome!!!

My wife and I leave for our 9th WDW vacation & were looking for something different to do--we'll definitely be Sharing the Magic next week.

I have always seemed to end up 1st in line for the next available monorail. I try to find a group of kids behind me in line (the wife and I are childless) & ask the CM if they can ride in the front. Does this qualify?

No longer can ride in front.

We want to have something special to give to cast members that make extra magic for people. We live in GA, so something that ties into our state. We have a month to figure it out.

When my DD was a CM, she loved making the magic happen. One especially hot summer day in the Animal Kingdom, she spend a little extra time when 2 little girls came up to buy a snack. Those 2 little girls came back later that day when they were leaving to give her a hug and say a special good bye to her. The parents said that the little girls wouldn't leave until they saw my DD again. That remains a special memory for my DD. From my DDs time as a CM, she expected nothing in return, but a simple thank you was usually more than enough and maybe the guest making the magic happen for someone else.

You could remember to pick up a card from guest relations that you can take their name and tell what magic they made.

We will definitely use some of these ideas on our next trip... here are some that have happened to us:

on our last trip, my DD was 5, and she was pin trading for the first time and lost a beloved Princess pin on her first ride on BTMRR. A very sweet teen gave her a pin! DD was crying, but not throwing a fit, and a nice teenaged girl came over to me and asked if she could give my daughter a new pin because she had heard us talking to a CM about trying to find it-- she said "no one should ever cry at Disney"-- and let my daughter pick any Princess pin from her very full lanyard! My daughter was THRILLED-- not only did she love the pin, but a big, exciting teenager had given it to her. She still has that pin on her lanyard hanging on the wall in her room, and still remembers that nice girl.

One morning a really nice lady about my mom's age bought my latte (she was in line in front of me) at the coffee stand that used to be near the monorail entrance at the Poly. We chatted and she said she just wanted to do something because she remembered being the mom on a Disney trip-- and they didn't have lattes at Disney in her day...

And, finally, a very nice couple gave my daughter some really cool stickers at the end of a meal in Kona. They also complimented her on her nice manners. Which was the best part in my opinion!

We paid forward with leftover bottled water on that trip, we had 8 bottles left-- walked by the pool and offered them to a family of four. The water was cold, and they were happy to accept!

Sorry to go a little OT, but any chance anyone will be leaving real soon (or there now)?

DD's friend will be 16 at WDW and could use a "Fairy Godmailer" postcard by 4/28. PM me. Thanks!

We always give away our extra FPs but one time was especially fun. We had two sets of TSM FPs, so we decided to give one set away. We asked a random couple near the ride if they were planning to ride; another couple near them immediately stopped as they could guess what was up. The first couple said no because of the long line, and I said I had spare FPs. The second ones said, "We'll take them if they don't want them!" but of course the first ones did. I felt bad for the others (so close but yet so far!) so we gave them our second set. Turned out they were newlyweds and they were so thrilled! (The line was over 90 mins.) We're local and can run over any time but this was their big honeymoon trip so I think they made much better use of the FPs than we did.

I have just remember somthing from my last trip, we were staying at Port Orleans French Quarter where they give out the Mardi Gras Beads. We were waiting at the bus stop with another family and the little girl who was about 6 started talking to me and telling me where they were going ect, she then looked at me in horror and said "you don't have any beads would you like some of mine?" i was really touched by this.

What a wonderful thread! It warms my heart to read these and see that there are still good ppl in the world. I just wish some of this goodness happened more often in the real world too..lol

WDW has always been such a magical place, Ive been going since I was 4 and my kids are teens now not small but I always make my family look out for the small children, by giving up good spots to them for parades, fireworks, characters, video games, seats on the bus b/c while WDW is for everyone the kids are what helps make it so magical, dont you agree?

I was just about to post these two exact things!

1. We ALWAYS ask people if they want us to take their picture.

2. When I overhear people discussing wrong information or wondering about something, mostly on the bus, I like to jump in and help them out. Only if they seem like the kind of people receptive to that. Some people don't like to have their conversation butted in on so it is a touchy one!

I do this too! I try to be as pleasant as possible so they don't get irritated with me, but I hate to hear ppl with wrong info!

We've also given away fast passes. I love taking pictures, so I always offer to do so!

I bought my first things to take and give away during parades!
1. Chinese finger tricks ($1.00 for 12)
2. Little "jewel" rings ($1.00 for 12)

I can't wait to let the kids give them away!

I read about this somewhere and did it last trip and plan to do it again this year.

I bought a bunch of Disney stickers at the dollar store and put them in my son's fanny pack. Every time we were in line with kids that looked like they were tired or getting cranky, my son would politely ask the parents if he could give them a sticker. He would look through the stickers and decide on which one would fit the child -- princesses for little girls...etc.

The best part about it was that it was teaching him that it feels good to make someone's day.

My daughter does this also. She started a few years ago and aparently it has carried over into our every day lives as well because she gave a little boy her foam finger at a hockey game a few months ago. My dad was with us and I swear he started crying. She is a really good kid.
BTW. I love the glow stick and bubble ideas also. I will have to pass that along to her.

Oh, one awesome thing that happened to us is MareSINY hid a penny for us @ WDW as well. My dd found it and was so excited. Check out this thread.

Hi All !!! I have done this in the past, and wanted to know if there was anyone out there that may want to continue the fun !!! On other trips to Disney I have gotten the names and addresses of anyone wishing to have a postcard sent to someone from Disney ...:woohoo: it could be for an adult, child, etc...it could be to wish a 'Happy Birthday' from Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc., or it could be a graduation 'Congratulations', etc..!! :woohoo:

I will be going to Disney from May 28-30th (:cool1: yeah...quick, quick trip, but I just got a job after being unemployed for 14 months here in Michigan, and I just HAD to get a trip in during our long weekend!! :rotfl: ) and...if there is anyone out there that would like me to send a Greeting from Disney, I would love to do that for you!!! *** I will do this for the first 4 people that respond to me***

:banana::banana:

Also, since I am returning in late May, I was hoping if anyone were going there before the 28th of May ~ if they would be interested in sending a postcard to my dear boyfriend (he's only been to Disney 1x in his 30 years) and I wanted him to receive a greeting that said something fun about coming back, etc...!!:banana:

Just wondering if there may be any interest in doing this ... there may be another thread somewhere ...but, I could not find it !! :cheer2:

Thank you,
Dawn
