Paying for Trip w/payments

We always made our vacation arrangements directly through Disney but they don't accept payments anymore. Now you pay for one nights accomodations and the rest upon departure or with your next and final payment. That really hurts the budget if you're staying for a week or longer. But recently All Ears welcomed a new travel sponsor Mouse Fan Travel and they accept payments and send them directly through Disney. I put my initial deposit down and recently put another $100.00 down with no problem. And since they're recommended through All Ears I'm sure they've been thouroughly researched.
Makes paying for the vacation a lot easier and always nice to have your room paid off before you even get there.

Last week Disney was still accepting payments. I just paid an additional $300 on our MYW package for July.

So do you mean for my trip that is a room only reservation I can't call in and have them charge more to my cc before my trip? Just thought I'd pay a nights rate here and there. Please advise. Thanks

I just made a payment on my MYM package on Sunday, February 5th. I have been making payments since last August. I wasn't told anything about not being able to continue making payments. Just that the entire package must be paid in full by October 12th. Maybe it is different for room only?? :confused3

I can hardly wait until time to go!! :ccat: :dumbo: :goofy: :tink:

I wasn't aware that Disney had stopped taking "installment" payments. I know that most TAs, including Dreams Unlimited, will take payments between the initial deposit and the final payment. They get charged to your credit card by the Disney Travel Co. and not DU, so I just assumed that Disney accepted those interim payments. Is the "no intstallment payments" just for people who booked directly with Disney?

We used the "installment Plan" for our Nov '05 trip and are doing the same for our Oct. 06 trip. WE booked this week and CM told DH that was fine!

Perhaps it's room only ressies that they don't take payments on? :confused3

I've been making payments on my Disneyland honeymoon - as long as the balance is paid in full a month before the trip they don't seem to care how they get their money. This is the first I'm hearing they aren't accepting payments anymore. :confused3

We usually do room only and they take the first nights of the room and the rest at check in. I have called and paid off before checking in. Is this maybe a new thing? Or am I just misunderstanding, maybe the OP is saying that they won't set up a payment plan as in such and such is do this day, this day and this day. Hmmm?

This may be a new policy. On a side note, congrats to jessica52877 on your 100th DIS post! :cheer2:

They better be taking payments because I just gave them 2566.00 to pay my trip off today!!!! :goodvibes The CM took my check card with no problems she never made mention of any changes. Mine was a package trip though!!!! Maybe it is different.. :confused3

I booked our room-only through another TA and at first was told we could make installments. She later learned that the type of ressie we had does not allow installments, but she could run it through "the other system" to allow us to do so. I just made sure that I have enough budgeted to cover our balance when we get there. She already had to re-do our ressie because Disney kicked it out of there system - we called the TA with our CC #'s to make our deposit the day before the date it was being held before cancelling.

I called on 1/27 and made a payment to my room only ressie. Hopefully, they still take payments. I was going to call again tomorrow to make another payment.

ETA: Found this on the Resorts Codes page. You can't make additional payments if you book online.

Good info! I never make mine online so guess it wouldn't apply. I prefer to keep my money most of the time anyways until I get there! Although I must say when I did the big package deal it was nice knowing it was all paid for!

That's funny. I booked my reservations online and was also able to make payments online. I just paid off my trip about 2 weeks ago. Unless it's room only ressies, I thought you could always pay online if you have a package.

If it is room only, I think that is the policy. I would think what you could do instead of making payments is buy Disney Dolars every time you would plan on making a payment. That way you are sure to have that money earmarked for Disney.

Yes, it's only if you book the room only that you can't make payments. I tried Dreams Unlimited and was told by them also that I could not make payments. You can make payments with the MYW package.

Ours IS a room-only ressie booked directly through Disney via telephone. We make "installment" payments, but do not have a payment plan per se set up with Disney. When we want to make a payment we call WDW and make a payment and they accept it!

That's interesting. I just checked my DU ressie for this summer. It's room-only and there's a link on my ressie page to make a payment online. The page that it takes me to has a drop-down menu that includes "interim" payments. The only caveat is that interim payments must be a minimum of $100. I wonder where the disconnect is on this one?

Well... I just called last week and made an installment payment on our Disney room-only reservation. In fact, I actually called to ask an unrelated question and before I got off the phone I asked if I could make a payment towards our trip. The CM laughed and said "Sir, we are always happy to take your money".
