Paying for dining plan?

We use our Disney Rewards card for DDP . So will they take this one the phone? I won't be doing DDP in the future if this is not the case.....it's the main use of our rewards since we don't get any free dining perks.
I use my rewards to help pay for annual dues.

Not just a renter canceling out, but say you have a family member cancel out. I realize several focus on renting, but we take large family trips. I am taking 9 people in Dec. Took 9 last Oct. There has been an occasion where I have made changes to our DDP count in the last 48 hrs. We had a death happen. I have been fortunate enough in the last 6 trips to have enough Rewards points to pay for our Dining plan with points. But lets say, that I or someone else want to pay for the Dining plan with the Disney chase Visa and have a balance. Then they have Interest which is a whole lot more that 2 or 3 %. I realize that Chuck was referring to bank interest, but everyone does not pay their CC's off every month. I know in a perfect world that would be wonderful, but we sure aren't in a perfect world. Now, I have just paid more than I needed to last year. So, why is Disney making DVC do this all of a sudden is all I am asking?

We had the cruise issue last week. How many people said then they might have to rent their points to pay for their cruise? Making people pay early for the Dining Plan is going to make this harder. Making more people come up with more cash instead of credit. This is my opinion of course.

I will give great consideration on future trips with the Dining plan. We don't eat desert anyway. It is when we take everyone that they like it. I see the Magic greatly fading away!!!

In the case of using a credit card and carrying a balance to pre-pay the DDP, it is a personal choice to do so. Why is Disney making DVC do this? Because they are working on merging the DVC and Cash reservation systems, so that dining, DVC, cash resort reservations, dinner shows, etc. can all be better integrated and tracked. Again, if the changes do not work for you, you do not need to add dining. It is a choice to do so. It is an option many DVCers wanted, and Disney obliged, under their rules. I never use a DDP, over the course of a trip we never spend as much on food as the DDP would cost us, and we don't like having our food choices limited to entrée and dessert, as we rarely eat dessert.

If you have pre-paid a DDP and your traveling party changes, your CC will be credited, just like if you return a purchased item to Wal-mart. Any interest charges accrued in the meantime would be your responsibility.

Last comment, Where are DVCers getting to post their opinion for options? I have taken the survey at the end of phone calls to Member services a few times, even this week. It was general questions about how the call was handled. I agree that for my husband and I, the DDP does not meet our needs. We do not purchase it, But when we take a large party, and the bill could be around $300.-$350.00 per TS meal, the DDP does.

When booking a cash reservation through Disney, If Insurance is not purchased, I don't think you can make any changes after the final payment date. If I am wrong, then please correct me. It has been four years since I have made a cash reservation.

Maybe there could be a 3 way call. Otherwise, I'd be sure to get the $ from the renter before adding the DDP. The owner also has the option of telling the renter that there will be no DDP option for the reservation.

I would think that if the owner does not receive the DDP money from the renter by 48 hours prior to the renter's arrival, they could just call MS and remove the DDP from the reservation. Renters would also have to know that they have a deadline of 48 hours before arrival for removal or addition of guests, or changes to the DDP. After 48 hours there won't be a choice.

I bet that will become part of a lot of renting contracts soon. I don't see where one would have to give the member their credit card number and I would never do that unless it was my parents or someone like that. What is important is the method used for reimbursing the owner. The renter will need to send the owner a check, or set up a PayPal account or something similar.

As long as we're talking Disney Visa Rewards... I use mine for AP renewal. I also don't use DDP. Unfortunately it appears if you are a renter, once the new policy goes into effect there will be no way for you to use Disney Visa Rewards or Disney gift cards or even the renter's own credit card (except through something like PayPal) to pay for DDP on a DVC point rental, unless they will accept a 3 way call with the renter and the owner.
