Can anyone confirm that the dining plan has to be paid for up front now? I have always paid for it when I got there when renting points. I have a ton of Disney gift cards and money from our Disney Visa that I will be using. I will be bummed out if that is the case. :confused3Anyone?

Yes, it's confirmed. That change was effective this past October in conjunction with the first phase oif the reservation system upgrades.

If you add a dining plan to a DVC reservation you must pay for it at that time. You can add it to the reservation as late as 48 hours in advance of arrival.

Ask MS if they will accept the gift cards and reward card dollars for payment. I believe that they will.

Ugh:confused3 How am I going to pay for this without giving my credit card info to the seller. Anyone?:worship:

Honestly it is going to be the member you are renting from that decides how to make payment.

Some are adding the cost to the rental and then the member contacts Member Services and pays for the DDP.

She asked if I wanted to put it on my credit card. Honestly, I don't want to give my number to someone I don't know. I'll see if she wants to add it to the cost, or worse......we'll have to go without:scared1:

How about a conference call with Member Services?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if she'll do a confrence call. I just need to break down and become offically married to the mouse. Thanks again!

So you only use your card buying something from someone you actually know.

You never use it at a restaurant, shop at stores where you don't know the clerk, shop online.

My point is, most of use our credit cards most often with strangers.

:thumbsup2No offense taken! I know that DVC members put their our necks at risk when renting out their points. I have had my credit card number stolen in the past though. Thankfully I was able to resolve the issue after a few months. Just a little touchy about it. Hmm. Maybe I will call the bank today and see if I can purchase a one time use visa card and use that as the number. I am sure I can use the disney script cards on a future trip. A good excuse to book another trip!

This does put a little wrinkle in the renting format. If the owners have to pony up more $$ it stinks.....I know a conference call would settle it but it still makes booking slightly more difficult. I guess the Paypal invoice would have to include dining now as well? Have any renters taken CC #'s from those that you rent too to pay when booking??

The best part of this is that the DVC member now has the credit card number and related codes and addresses. So if the non-member runs off with a bill left on the account, they can try this card to pay the remaining bill.

I just called MS to add and pay for my guests DDP using their CC. MS told me they could not take a 3rd party CC directly from me. I had to have the guests on the call w/me. It was not a problem for me...guest is brother so I was able to 3-way him right there but what a pain it could be for others.

Interesting, I was wondering how they were going to handle this.

Yep having them stolen or comprimised is a pain, we have had it happen several times.

See the comment below that Member Services will not take the third party card.

Yes this does complicate things.

I too was wondering how MS would handle this and am glad to see they are not taking the 3rd party information.

Of course, for those owners who are making the reservations for the guests, it will be a bit more work.

So how do they know the other party on the line is the guest? You could get the info from the non-member and have someone pick up an extension at your house and give the credit card info.

I've added and paid "Upfront" twice now for the DDP. Last month my DD and family had a room for one night after the cruise. I wanted to add the DDP to their room, my treat. So I called and paid for it with my cc. Yesterday I added the DDP/delux to my first day of my reservation and had to pay immediately. Not sure how renters will do this. I had no problem paying for my DD's DDP, plus they asked me if I wanted to use this cc when they check in and I told them NO.

I thought the same thing. In fact I have to call back in a few days to add and pay for the DDP for my other brother and thought out of convenience I would just put my husband on the phone. How would they no the difference??? I have all the info that they need.
