We have a cruise booked on a 24 hour hold and decided to get the Disney Credit Card to pay for it since we will get a $400 statement credit. We were approved for the card and can see it in my Chase app. I was able to add the card to Apple Pay but I can’t figure out how to pay for the cruise with it since I won’t have the physical card in hand for 7-10 days. The cruise is at the end of October so I need to pay the balance in full by tomorrow night before the 24 hour hold is up.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how to make it happen?

Chase doesn’t give the full card number over the phone so calling them doesn’t work.

Can someone on the Disney side help if I call? If so who?

Only thing I can think of is to use apple pay to buy disney gift cards, and then pay in full with them. That won't get you the X months no interest thing, though.

This is from NerdWallet. Are you sure you can’t use it?

How to Use Chase Credit Card Before It Arrives

  1. Apply for your Chase credit card online (via desktop or mobile device) or over the phone with a customer service representative and wait for a response. Chase will usually let you know if you were approved within minutes.
  2. Get your 16-digit Chase credit card number through your Chase Mobile app.
  3. Add your new Chase credit card information to a digital wallet, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
  4. Use the Chase credit card to pay for purchases through the digital wallet.

Let the Hold go. Call Chase and tell them you need the card ASAP and you’re willing to pay for Overnight Shipping (I got my card in 2 days, pleading poor). I doubt the cruise will sell out in a couple days?

People with reservations need to PIF today. But you can book cruises AFTER the PIF date. In fact more cabins will open up when people decide to cancel now that push comes to shove. I think you can book a cruise up until 7 days before departure? I know someone on this board will correct me on that.

Unless it’s a “rule” with the $400 savings that you must pay 2 months in advance?

Forgot about that since I use a TA and never book last minute...

“To qualify and receive your $400 statement credit, you must make Purchases totaling $1,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening.”

You’re OK! It’s not really “last minute” but I understand.

Enjoy!

Thank you everyone. For simplicity I just used a different credit card.

I just wish I would’ve realized that you can’t apply and use the card right away because I really didn’t need another credit card. Well to be clear you can use the card right away if you can use Apple Pay cause you can add the card to your wallet in Apple Pay but as we know, you can’t use Apple Pay to pay for the cruise.

The way the website promotes the card leads you to believe you can apply for the card and then charge the cruise on it instantly and obviously that’s not what happens. Probably my fault for not questioning this more before I applied. Chase told me they thought it could happen, but they couldn’t tell me how to do it and every time I tried to call Disney cruise lines the wait time was over an hour pushing an hour and a half and I didn’t have that time to wait on hold.

Bottom line is there is no way to get the full card number or even a temporary number prior to receiving the card in the mail to enter it into the Disney cruise line site that I have found.

Everyone was correct that you can request that Chase overnight the card to you, but in my case, I still would’ve had to release the reservation and rebook once the card arrived and then risk potentially not being able to book at the category we wanted by the time the card got here.

Some credit card issuers give you a temp card number to use before the new one arrives. I believe Amex and Citi do, but they usually have lower credit limits. Citi gave me a temp with a 500 dollar limit. I have 8 chase cards and I have never had them offer me one.

Not sure about other Amex cards, but when I got the Plat, the temporary card had no limit.
