I am splitting my ressie is cash and points. I have been told by one CM that you have to pay when you arrive. Then another told me no, you can pay in advance. My mom and dad what to pay for some of our cash ressie and wanted to call and give them a cc#. Can this be done?

MS cannot handle/accept cash in advance. You will pay for the cash reservation when you check out fo the resort.

If you booked it through member services, you can only pay when you arrive, DVC does not have an accounts receivable process.

If you booked it through CRO (room only), you have to pay one night in advance and the rest when you arrive.

I've tried and they cannot accept payment in advance. DVC MS is not set up to put payments though...that's why they only ask for your CC number when making the reservation but even a downpayment isn't taken.

PLUS, you have to be a DVC Member to get the cash reservations so you have to be the one to check in and make that payment at the resort. It might be too easy for Members to make cash discount reservations for other people and not themselves otherwise.

thanks all! This is the first time we are on a points/cash ressie so I am a little lst. My parents are just going to give us check prior to our trip so that should make it easier. Moms just a little upset because she can't get more skymiles! They are planning a big trip next year so she is wearing out the plastic to get those miles!! Poor dad! :sad2:

If your parents are going with you then just have them pay with their credit card when you all get there. If not, I am fresh out of ideas!

So, you are saying, if I make a cash ressie through MS, they won't charge my card? I won't be charged until I check out, so I can actually pay with cash if I want? Even if it is at a Disney resort, not a DVC resort. I just want to verify because I am interested in making a split stay with some nights on points and other with cash..

Thanks
Melissa

Yes, MS just takes the CC # to secure the ressie, they don't chare it.
If I recall correctly, if you have cash nights on your ressie, you need to leave a credit card at check in but can stop by the front desk prior to the end of your stay to put cash on your account prior to checkout.

We just returned last week and had one unit all cash and another with a combination points and cash. They did not charge the cc we placed to hold the ressies and we paid with cash for both units at check-in. The CM actually forgot to charge us and we had to ask if we were to pay at check-out or right then. She had to double check because there was no evidence that we owed anything.

You cannot reserve a non-DVC Disney resort through member services with cash. You would have to reserve it through CRO and they require a deposit.

When you book a cash ressie/points ressie does this all have to be done at your home resort or can it be at the 7 month point for the other DVC resorts. I know it is a stupid question but I did not realize you could stay at a DVC on a cash reservation. I am very excited. :cheer2:
