I opted not to go with a dining plan this trip and have instead elected to put all our food and drink money on a Disney gift card. I know I can pay for meals with the card, but can I pay for my alcoholic drinks with it too? Like a grey goose slush or a margarita in The Ditch, or a Lapu Lapu at the pool bar?

I'd love to know the answer to that, too... I was told they could be used anywhere, minus a couple of kiosks...

When I was in Epcot in March I used my gift card to by alcholic drinks that they sell at the stands. I had no issues at all. And might I add they were delicious.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yup! I recently bought almost all of the drinks you mentioned with gift cards :) Including the Lapu Lapu at the Poly and the frozen margaritas from the kiosk in Mexico.

My Rewards points from my Disney Visa Card goes exclusively to adult beverages! It's worked everywhere I've used it! :drinking1

That's an absolute yes for the Grand Marnier or Grey Goose slushie... I, too, had a dedicated giftcard for the drinkies; made it a lot easier to convince my cousin and aunt to have a drinkie with me AND to let me pay! :)

Also a YES for a souvenir beer stein in Germany with beer in it. :)

So excited to hear this!! I've already got a gift card started. I work very near a Disney Store and every time I get paid, I go over and add a little bit more to the card. So by the time I get there in August I'll have enough to drink around the world and then some!

And maybe I should mention that this is an adult only trip! LOL! :cheer2:

Yep, no issues at all. We had a Honeymoon Registry gift card and since Mother Nature didn't really cooperate, we spent a good chunk of that on various adult libations around property. :)

DH had no problem using a gc for his drinks as we went around WDW last summer. We were at the parks and resorts and everyplace took the gc. In fact, I'm thinking of giving him a custom GC for his birthday this year so he has "beer money" for the next trip. :)

Since we use the DDP alot and like having everything paid for in advance we pretty much always use gift cards for tips, souvineers, and any alcoholic beverages. We've used them to get the grand mariner slushies at the kiosk in France and also at the kiosk in Germany to get beer. I've also used them at the wine stores in Germany and Italy.

Off Topic: but we also use them every year at the different booths at the Food & Wine Festival to get both food and alcohol.

:) I was wondering about this! Thanks for the responses!!!! Single Disney Gift card for beverages :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

A gift card is cash on a card, that's all it is. I'm not sure why people think you can't purchase alcohol with it. You should be able to use it anywhere they can process the card which nowadays is everywhere Disney. The only rules I know about alcohol is that a lot of states have rules that if a restaurant comps a meal, they can't comp the alcohol.
